Title: Connecting fromt he client-side of Internet connection sharing

Since Dizzy is pushier than I am about it, can anyone tell me of a way to connect to the DV from the client computer fro internet connection sharing on a dial-up account?

Nothing fancy network side. 10/100 network cards hooked into a 4 port hub/router.

P.S. I reccomend a router - SMC sells a router that can use an external modem if broadband is unavailable in your area.

It appears 3com no longer makes a router with a 56k modem in it any longer (was too expensive anyway).

I read about it when I had Windows ME...

It's a pain, there's something I read on the Microsoft site about setting up a port forward in an .ini somewhere, but I was unable to get it to work even when I followed the instructions perfectly.  Then again, those instructions are written by Microsoft, and it was "officially" for Windows 98 (nothing official on their site about ME...)

I've been told it can't be done through a simple hub like you've got.  However, many players have router setups that would be more than happy to assist you.

I just want to understand this right...

You have a PC (PC #1) with a dial-up connection and a network card.
You have a router / hub connecting the computers
You are getting ready to try to play SFC on PC #2, which does not have it's own, "dedicated" internet connection, it gets on when PC #1 is connected.

Here's the problem:  ICS (Microsoft's Internet Connection Sharing) has a built in firewall that will protect PC #2, while letting PC #1 have unfettered access to the net.  A couple of years ago, I did a search of their knowledge base, and came up with How to map a port in ISC using an .inf File (http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;231162).

I was using Windows ME at the time, and could not, for the life of me, get this to work.  I was unable to play SFC on PC #2... :(
