Important tests need to be done. Please help.

Because bases are destructible, meaning they dissappear from the map when destroyed, they have been improved. How much improved? Too much or too little? I need your help to decide. So pair up with a partner and  go base busting. Every other base alternates between BATS and SB's. So each are everywhere.

Starbases have been revised to the point where it isnt wise to get closer than 25 w/o having a plan to crack it quickly. The SB's can deal out an ass whooping in such a short time you may not recover from if too close. And dont think a severely damaged SB cant dish it out, lol. It sure can right up till it dies.

The SB's are designed to withstand 2x Heavy cruisers. 2x BC's have an unlikely chance and a DN BC combo should be equal to the tastk. Several Dreads or CVA's should, depending on very smart tactics, never fail to kill a base unless you wing with Hexx. Please test to confirm what you can take down a Starbase with.

Battlestations are tough and might be able to be taken out solo in a BC or Dread, but two CCH ships or better should take it. Please confirm.

I appreciate your help here, as DH and I are gravely concerned about this issue being unresolved so close to launch. We now put this in your hands. Let's see what results you have to show.

Results so far:

Chuut and I easily killed a R-SBFR with a I-CVS and CCY. Took 30 mins.

Then we destroyed an I-SBFR with a F-CVA and H-IC using an illegal ftr combo, but we didnt take damage till chuut got stupidly close. Still wasnt hard tho. I'd not call it an 'official' test cuz our ftr flotilla was illegal.

I-SBFR vs Z-cBBV with 16 HAAS.  No go, used most of my expendables killing the I-BBV & I-CLY but 16 fighters worth of drones didn't even crack a shield.

Trying an IC+ with Stinger 2m's....

I-SBFR vs H-IC+ with S-2m's.  After dispatching the I-BBZ & I-DNZ, the S-2m's went on a rampage destroying the base in about 4 minutes. 

Initial volley by the Stingers was over 200 (unfortunately, they hit two shields instead of one), then they picked it apart with gatlings.

Hydran's motto should be:

Have base?  Will bust!!!


Or maybe.... All your base are belong to us! ;D

I-BATS vs H-DNW with 4 Stinger Xm's.

Lost 1/2 my stingers fighting off the ISC ships. 

But the remaining 4 were sufficient enought to cap the base.

F-BBf sole survivor, 0 parts, 0 drones, 0 PF's, 0 allies, dim pink shields and 24 power after 25 minutes.


Also, those Ph4's maintain a lock on your flaming arse all the way out of range!!!


very tricky, but Two BB's or DNH's may be able to crack a SB as-is.  Both players will need heavy repairs though, so it's not an endeavor for PP farming, that's for sure.

R u sure it was just an I-SB and not a '+' or 'F' or 'FR' version of the SB?

Plain I-SB shouldnt spawn as AI.

It's important I know which version base you are destroying. So far it seems bases need more ftr defense, ADD racks and PlaD, but I'm hoping I dont have to change them again. If they are too weak to defend vs cheese, then mb make the bases really cheap to buy...

If you add MORE ftr/drone defense AGAIN.... you might as well make the bases non-destructable.

It takes mega cheese to kill them as it is.... and you want to make them tougher?

Yeah, if you take multiple CVAs, the bases die.   Seems right to me  ::)

Bases are set to be non-destructable for testing purposes.

Bears got a point. If you're trying to make them destructable they should
be destructable at a certain level. If you plan on needing DN combos to kill them
just make them non destructable.

U probably cant bust a base with a single BBV. It takes 2x full CVA's or a good long range direct fire cruiser and a full CVA or a couple heavy Dreads. Have you seen the Stock Hydran SBFR? It has THIRTEEN PhG's! I cut it to 8 and added a few Ph1's. Otherwise Ftrs and Drones wouldnt have a chance. Have you seen the Stock G-SBFR? It has FORTY-EIGHT Tractors. Use direct fire weapons or nothing at all.

You have to overwhelm them all at once. They have only so much they can hit u with in one arc and during that time, you get one chance to drop two shields and that opens it up to being eventually destroyed.

If I add more ftr defense, or seriously lower their cost on the server, it will be because Ftrs get thru the Starbase defenses too easily. Try Co-Oping. They are not that hard.

That base was pretty hardcore.  I think it had something like 4 R plasma, 6 PPD's (on swivel mounts, damn base lol), an arseload of ph4's....  it absolutely shredded my shields once it got through my reinforcement. 

but you definately need more than 8 proxie photons at range 20 to kill it.  I don't know how you feds do it!!


EDIT: It was the I-SBR, and I was mistaken, it's got 8 PPD's  ::)

I understand wanting tough Starbases and I admit it's probably far more realistic.
My only concern(s) are that
1)- If you put a single human defender in a BCH or bigger with a SB you're going to need 3 Dreads to take it.
With the disengagement rule this would seem a pretty easy way to make sure your SB never falls.

2) While not trying to start a race comparison I think it's (in theory) far easier for ships armed with Photons & Hellbores
working together than for ships with Dizzies & ESG's.  8)

Anyways ISC Battle(?)Station R (I think) fell easily to my solo STL in less than  minutes
SAme STL then got shredded by ISC SB when I misjudged the myopic zone on the PPD.

Chuut and I killed it with a CCY (early BC) and a CVS (8ftr CA). Took thirty mins and neither of us took much damage. We dispatched a Dread, a Carrier and a CL on the way in in addition to the bases 16 ftr compliment.

So, you were inside range 25? Hehe, the R's reach out to 24-25k. No wonder you got shredded. Dont let the R's touch you. And if you had 12 proxies, you'd likely take it, as in 3x NCL's. Or toss in a CV that has 4x Photons, a few scatter packs to soften up PD right before the Ftrs hit it... It'd have little chance.

Hexx, not every mission should you take down a SB. One in Three? ;)

If a human Defender is in the mix, then you probably will not kill the base. That's the idea. You'd need a fleet. So bring 2 Dreads and a BC. StarBases are plenty and no one says you have to pick on the one being defended. Take another base or surround the one you're assaulting. Put the shoe on the other foot. You want your SB to get popped as a sure thing each and every time, or you want your $50k bases to stick around more than an hour? Think about that.

As for ESG+Dizzies, use ftrs and drones. Lyrs have always had problems with Planet assaults and bases. Always. Now you are merged in the klink list. So pick a klink carrier or drone boat to support a Lyr Carrier or whatnot. Get a Dread to help = no more base.

I do not like non-destructible bases. It is the same damned mission repeatedly till the base is taken. Same when it is fought over. I tire of that endlessly.

That's my point also
While they're stable enough now to be able to reasonably assume you can get 2 players allied,
3 is pushing it.

L-cBCV ( Mat likey btw ) vs I-BATSR + I-DDZ + I-CMP

Mat wins after 39 minutes mainly from experience rather than ease of mission. still had to risk point blank ESG rape to open up a shield to plink at later. 38 minutes of tedium with one minute of pucker in the middle. i'd say it's winnable 80% of the time.

That was the PvP version of the mission.

The other version of the mission was so godawfully easy that I didn't bother writing down any ship types. 2 big Rom ships + me in same ship vs 2 smaller frog ships plus same base = under 8 minutes

The mistakes we found last night were rather hilarous....

We found that the game is not case sensitive in regards to the ship list....

So the H-cOM that was bought and paid for showed up in mission as a H-COM... but you had a H-cOM on the map and in space dock....

Ditto for the H-cOS... you got a  H-COS.  ;D

We have been getting a lot of 'host left' and drops when using D2 mission scripts.

Even two player co-oping against a base results in a 'host left' about 10% of the time.

And this is DH & I, who are both on cable hook ups.
