Nah, it's a look at the altered DNA the Nietzchians have. :P

Could be DNA, a model of the Atom. Space monster guts, but yea its the Magog world ship. Or at least a portion of it. The one used had 20 worlds or so, to keep polies down I will probably try 10. Wanted to do a project that was less time intensive than some of my others. Might make a good starbase.

i have a suggestion instead of using standard spheres use geospheres you can get the same smoothness with a fraction of the poly count

Thanks-I'll give that a try.

lol no cause my brain has less cells than this model  ROFL   :P

Previews, Sun textures by me, all the planets are textured by Taldren from SFC3. Using 6 bitmaps altogether for this. ouch.

personaly i wouldnt use taldren textures
try using some nasa pictures that are compiled of the various moons and planets and planets without clouds that give a distrubing feel to them when all the mountian ranges are streched

Good idea, cept I think those are copyrighted-not sure if I would want to release it with those included.

Though anyone could easily swap out the maps after the fact.

Hmm, alot of those pics have mutilple sources from universities and such. They usually ask you to obtain permission and I don't often here back from all the parties involved. And I just wanted this to be a quick project. I will watch the episode this was in and see how it looked. I can make it look more desolate for sure. I definatly need to replace the ones that appear to have oceans  :P

Gonna try given the sun a glow in SFC3. I doubt it wil look good but I'll see.

from my memory the planetoids were more like large astroids in the show and the maggog were underground dwellers

I watched the episode again. They look like planets. Perfectly round and many as big as the sun in the center. Only 1 or 2 have atmosphere.
The remainer appear barren or cratered like asteroids. Though asteroids are generally random irregular shapes. And yea they were all tunneled out. The cabling was narrower than what I have in my model.

btw I tried Geospheres and they would save polies, only I couldn't get them mapped like a sphere in milkshape.

update-narrowed tubing. some different textures and added glow which is best seen from the zoomed out pic. Its scaled a tad larger than a base and could still be played as a ship. It zooms out just a bit more than the 1st pic. A couple Norways can be seen in one of the pics. They look far away but are actually in weapons range about 20k out perhaps. Not sure about the glow, it tends to make a bright ring around the border of the sun.

I am taking a look at this to see how I  tweak  this model to save computer resources. I posted some questions about mapping and texture size in seperate threads. When I get some pointers I'll finish this up. Want to get it lower poly and as few maps as I can.
