Title: Looking for SFC III
Post by: Lieutenant_Q on February 02, 2005, 05:02:20 pm
A friend of mine has seen what SFC3 is like when I play it and is interested in getting it.  Unfortunately, people on Amazon seem to be out to fleece people for that game (while the better game, OP imho, is going for dirt cheap), does anyone know of a place where he could get that game for a resonable price?

No clue, but doesn't he go for OP?  If it's so cheap on Amazon, and you think it's the better game, maybe you could convince him to go that route and save him a bunch of money.  I was looking for BC a while ago and they were charging astronomical amounts for it so I'm just out of luck.  At least with SFC there is a cheaper "better" option. :D

check ebay. there were a couple less expensive copies, but unfortunately it may run ya a bit. I have heard of some people running across a few copies.

it is rather curious.

Even the few local copies that's still in store (Radio Shack, EB, and independent firms) are still marked at premium...
A NEW game sells for around $60CDN, and the SFC3 copies on sale locally are still labelled in the neighborhoos of $45~50 CDN.

As many have observed OP is MUCH MUCH cheaper (the ones in store are going for around 10~15.) But that's not the most curious thing, even other older or similar aged "big brand" games have come down in price. (Age of Mythology is only 6 month older, but is selling at $30ish... Heck I've seen Doom 3 priced cheaper than 45...)

Something is keeping the price of SFC3 higher than usual in terms of the length after release. I wonder what could it be... A collector's item perhaps? (being the last trek game actvi did)

I'm not sure why the price is still so high up there.. Here is the USA, just before Taldren closed.. SFC3 got RMA.. basically the publisher recalled the game from stores.. the only copies that can be found in the US is either a game store that bought their copies and are selling off the overstock they got, or on Ebay..

that would tell me that Canadian stores bought the copies that they have and are trying to break even on their investment..

Purchasing the game online would be much cheaper than getting it from one of Canada's stores.

Don't forget about the exchange rate and when possible I prefer not to buy online as I rather not give credit card numbers over the net.

you prefer give it by phone :), some site have a secure line on the net, there no place secure for a credit card, when the want to the get it and use it, it can be at a restaurent or when you buy a game at the store, its easy to get a credit card number when you have access to credit card.  so pay with paypal with a credit card or go buy it cash at the store.
