What kind of effects will that have on energy consumption, etc.
-
heavy weapons in phaser hp will work normaly.phasers in heavy hps wont be charged normaly. they are not attached to the phaser capacitor. lets say u have 2 phasers in phaser hps and 2 phasers in a heavy hp: your phaser capacitor will only charge enough energy to fire 2 phasers. u can fire whatever phaser is pointing at the target but after 2 shots u will have to recharge. so basicly a phaser in a heavy hardpoint is an emiter your "real" phasers can choose to be fired from.at least thats the way it works in sfc2 op.
with some carfull moding of firing arcs u can built a ship with lots of emiters covering all arcs but with only a handfull phaser weapons.can help balancing the shiplist. i think thats the way they should work in trek anyway. the tmp enterprise has 18 phaser balls but it never fired more than two at a time although other emiters should have been in perfect firing position as well (the mutara battle in twok)
maybe the enterprise only has 6 or 8 phasers wich can be fired from whatever emitter is in perfect position.
hope that helps

This is a very very interesting approach. Please someone elaborate with an example OP ship as it would appear in the shiplist. This may influence the OutaLance "Invasion" MOD. I'm up for any suggestions like this. I really wanna give the community something new and unseen.

Get shipedit.
Look at the Hvy Wpn HP's. Dont put phasers there. They dont add to phaser capacitor so they wont charge. They steal from others which is very very bad.

Just as a note.. in TWOK.. both ships were pulsing phasers, much like Phaser G's.. that would take up the capacitors ability to power more than 1 bank at a time... if the beams were lower powered streams, then i am sure it could fire 4 banks at once.. but both ships were using the phasers for Total Damage effect.. thus pulsing as much power as possible in the most condensed beams possible for the most ammount of damage possible.. the capacitors would have to be dedicated to the bank that is firing the rapid pulse.. at least that is what makes sense to me...

Ok now I'm totally confused. ???

I feel the same way MP. But, I see it this way. This whole situation is like a beautiful dancer. Don't ask what's going on, just enjoy what's coming off.

HP's 1-10 = Are not suitable for Phasers. Anything else goes for any other HP's hvy or phsr.

But if you do it in SFC3, it makes no real difference - heavy weapons and beam weapons are interchangeable.
