Alternate using same number of polies. I prefer this as it looks less like a missle.

What would you use to run that ship in a game a a billion polys, Deep Blue or some Hollywood custom graphics unit??

lol E_look. Its not that bad. The last version is about 4,600 polies. To be honest I don't like any of these. This is the fanger od designing in real time  :P   This is the type of stuff that sits on my hard drive until hopefully a light bulb comes on  ;D

FW, I am not familiar with Centauri.

Can't leave it alone. . I am not sure which is the front, or top  yet. Polies at 7,900. This is an aLien race so hopefully the ship looks alien. I hope it doesn't resemble anything done cause I am trying to get different look to portay alien techno;ogy.

Ahh crap, I still don't like it (^)^(**&$&#^^&$%*%*%*(^^($&&$   Back to the drawing board.  :P Actually it looks good from perspective shots or when you rotate it. Most likely due to there is something going on in all 3 axis. But from head on top or side views, the basic hull sahpe is too simple and seams to clash with the more complex way its supported. Maybe I have just been looking at it wrong. I could use some honest feedback. Like if it truly sucks but theres is hope still with some tweaking, I might be out in left field on this one. PLus I am out of room on the HD. Its not uncommon for a single ship to take up 300 MB on my drive for all the saves I make, especially when textures are 3mb a piece.

I changed the title of the thread from BAttleship WIP to Frigate WIP.. Just didn't have the feel of a BB. Here is the final design for a frigate, Polies are 3,200.

You know what the trouble with design is? Pretty much anything you can make will resemble something thats already out there. Simply because there is so much out there already. So to have a truly unique design, you have to push the envelope. Pushing the envelope is kinda a tricky thing. People like familariarity. Why do you think there are a Gazillion Fed designs? If a design ends up too far out of the norm, it starts looking, well just wierd.  But what do I know? Nothing, I am just a damn idiot  ;D

The Centauri are the Race that Humans first met in Babylon5. They gave us Jump Gate technology and have a "Aristocracy" feel to them.

Looks kinda kewl now that it's all textured up. Pink Panther, good name.

I like the chrome look to it. And it does look alien.
