I have decided to take a break from SFCOP. But by no means that I am leaving the game that i love.
I have a new love: SH3. (Silent Hunter 3). ;D
CF. please tell me when ATOK 2 is live and i will be there. ;D
And I will still be haunting these boards.

How is SH 3?
I've got SH 2 and an oldie but a goodie, Aces of the Deep.

Sub games rule! I need to try this to.

The graphics are just fantastic. but the game does have high hardware requirements. and it is well worth it.

Silent Hunter 3 reminds me of SH1 and aces.
It's got fantastic graphics, a fun crew management system, upgradable Uboats and a non scripted
campaign. (Although you can't of course affest the outcome of the war)
Personally I disliked SH2 (as I hate scripted campaigns) but I'm having a blast on the 3rd one.
4th I *believe* is already in the works, simply porting the engine over to the Pacific theatre.

what's multiplayer like in this?
-
I haven't done multiplayer
From what I've heard it's fun- it's (I believe) just players running
wolfpacks against the AI though, don't think you can hop in a frigate and hunt a Uboat down.
There are a few issues (imho) - nothing can shoot torpedoes but your sub (in SP)
but it's (imho) the best Sub Sim done yet. And it's (kinda) realistic
In 1939/40 you can prety much sail a boat around the British Isles.
By 1944 you're lucky if you can get out of port ;D
(It's not actualy that bad- but I have had to crash dive several times when leaving the Uboat bases)
-
so you can't fight against other live players?
-
only available in dvd format................. :'(

I take it that you dont have a DVD drv, Tobin. :)

and the crystal ball doesn't expect that to change... :(
