Title: Orion Pirates Stability Updater
Post by: Pestalence_XC on May 09, 2005, 08:02:32 am
This installer updates Orion Pirates DLL files in order to improve and smooth graphics, decrease multi-player game lag, improve game stability, and to reduce multi-player game drops.

These files were created by Taldren for the SFC 3 game (except for 2). These files were developed based on Orion Pirates as being the source game engine to SFC 3, and as such, the files have proven to work in Orion Pirates and have proven to decrease game load time, improve game stability, improve texturing display of ships and space background, virtually eliminate multi-player game lag, and almost kill the 6th player slot bug.

Please keep in mind that this is somewhat like a band-aid for Orion Pirates and it is not supported by Dynaverse.net or Taldren.

This update was discovered by me, Pestalence, in order to help the community to better enjoy Orion Pirates in multi-player.

Please keep in mind that it is recommended to back up your original DLL files located in your Orion Pirates game directory. In the event you have any errors with these files, you can just overwrite the updated ones with your original dll files from a backup that YOU make. This installer does not back-up the DLL files automatically.. Fair warning.

Consider this a Beta version for the next 3 weeks.. if no major issues occur, then consider it full version.

For those wanting to get the new OP Enhancement Package, these updated DLL Files are included in OP Enhancement Package.

Download Location : < 753 KB >

Hope that this helps.

All responses about game performance welcome.

Well, this isn't a game performance issue, but my antiivirus software (AVG) detected a Trojan when I DL'd the file. I DL'd it to my desktop, but got a warning about a Trojan in my Temps folder.

I have to go to work now, but will check back later on to see what's up.

Anti-Virus will show some exe installers, especially one's by ClickTeam (Install Creator).. It is best to DL the file with AV off, install the file, then turn AV back on and scan system for Viruses to be safe.. AVG has a report on the trojan being a false positive with installers.

Thanks,
I know that some .exe's can cause falses on Trojans (McAfee, I heard didn't like Clickteam installers). It's the first time that I've had it happen, even though I've used many Clickteam .exe programs. I use it myself for stuff that I do. Just thought that I should give you a heads up on it. If nobody else has had this prob then It's probably, as you say, a false alarm. Better safe than sorry though, I say. Especially with the recent Hotmail virus spamming that's been going on with some members on these boards. Sorry if it caused any trepitations for ya, man.

Ooo  Ooo Ooo....something else to distract me from CoH....

Very good Job Pesty, something to play with until client source code is released....

Had some initial probs dl from the .exe..due to avg .. nuff said and eventually got the zip.

Initial impressions on load and a couple skirms seemed slightly smoother.  The model textures appeared to be sharper, but that could have been subjective.

Havent logged on to dv or GSA, but have put it on my 2 do list...RL is springbusy..(groan)

I am curious to know what mad scientist thought of this "route" in search of stability, a back door as it where

Has anyone else tried this and liked it?  I'm planning on trying the update soon (if I hear a few more positives).

Thanks.
