Corbomite and I love this game.
We were BSing the other night and were wondering how many other have this game and would like to take over a server some night and raise some hell.
Anyone interested?
-
Why take over a server when anyone with the game can put one up? You don't need a separate machine or anything.
-
Word to your momz! That game rocks. I have Jedi Academy too, love the saber staff.
Im prolly gonna be out of town for a couple weeks, but when i get back, im defanatly down.
-
That sounds great! Personally I prefer Jedi Academy, but I have both games.
-
I, as well, have both games.
Jedi Acadamy is indeed the better of the two, but just name the time and place and we'll duel.
I'll never forget the first time I logged onto a "kewl" multiplayer server ... it was the cloud city map, and on the launch platform there were all these ... Jedi.
In the center, the two Dueling Jedi's actually bowed, and then commenced to fighting. On the outskirts, other minor duels were going on, but I thought this whole experience was really cool.
:D
-
I played the Jedi Acadamey demo and wasn't impressed really. It wasn't much different than Outcast except for some minor stuff. The only thing I liked more was the saber staff, but then I found out how to get it in Outcast and JA just never got bought.
Why don't you set up a couple of servers we can all drop in on Frey?
-
Acadamy boasts a better graphics engine (handling effects, etc.) plus doing the moves is easier than Outcast.
You can't do dual sabers in Outcast, IIRC.
-
Well since I can't even run Outcast full bore on my POS that is fairly irrelevant to me. ;D
-
I've only logged onto a server for play over the net a couple of times. About a year ago, a bunch of my buddies in my dorm played over LAN. That was great fun for a few weeks, but unfortunately we had so much fun we ended up getting burned out on it. It's been a while since I played, but it would definitely be fun.
-
I have both Outcast and JKA
-
I've got both, just trying to figure out why my system doesn't like to play the sounds / music without stuttering...
I'm probably going to need either more RAM (which may be on the way) or a new sound card...
-
i have both :)
-
I have both as well.
-
I have to say both games are pretty good, and are fun to play but i have to second what frey said JKA seems the better game out of the two.
-
I have outcast, but not academy.
-
I've got both and love both. Either or for me, just that Corbo can't get JKA to work on his PC.
-
I can't say which one has the better single player gameplay; there are things I like and dislike about both games, but for multiplayer, JA definitely has JO beat.
-
A Jeedai!! Eh?
Well, whaddyyaaa know!!
JKA is like jedi in SWG. Only problem is that the Bounty Hunters get rewards for taking Jedi scalps. Last night I even saw a Bounty Hunter in the same Guild as another Jedi and he waxed him!! :O
I think I'll keep doing non-Jedi thingies for now and just hang out with the Wookies on Kashyyyk. I mean I only have to worry about monster fleas and ticks. You ever tried to flea collar a wookie?! ;D
-
I have both too. Just a side note though, Alien vs Predator is probably the most fun online first person shooter (claw-er, biter) I've played.
-
*coughmoviebattles (http://www.moviebattles.com/)cough*
-
I've never seen that one before, but it looks awesome!

Hey get to the fleet forum and reply about a possible PBR match this Sunday slacker.... ;)
-
I too have both. but you guys do know that my online connection suck the big one. ;D

Um, I forgot what timezone you are in, I won't be able to play until around 10 PM EDT

Appologies that i couldnt make it last night, or reply sooner to your post to say whether i could make it or not. Having some net issues atm, waiting for my line to be upgraded which has resulted in me having frequent disconnections, so looks like i'm out of action for a while until i get my net sorted.

Man, you don't check in for a while and you miss stuff. I LOVED Outcast. Used to play competitively (although I initially was a duel guy, I moved to ctf for a while) and it was incredible. They really nerfed the sabre stuff in the patches a couple of times until it was just rediculous and I went on to other things, don't know if they ever got it back. I think in it's stock form, or first patch or so, the sabre battles were the best. I loved the fact that folks would bow and then battle eachother, and if they didn't bow, then woe be unto them. ;) I'll have to get it installed and see if you guys are around. Heck, even if you aren't I might play through it again. I think it was one of the better single player experiences. I didn't get Academy, but I did play it. I think overall I prefer Outcast, but it's a personal thing. I liked the fact that some things were harder, and I'm not a fan of all the dual bladed stuff. It just gets out of control, imo.

Been playing the single-player game of JKO again, gotta say it has a better plot than JKA but JKA has some boards on it that are absolutely wonderful. The Hoth board is great, the Speeder-bike chase in the Canyon is a Blast, and the Ending is really cool if you choose the Dark Path.
I really wish Lucas Arts had used this "engine" for the Episode III game, it would have benn much better

I agree. The Jedi Outcast storyline is definitely better than the Jedi Academy storyline, but I think Jedi Academy is overall more fun to play.
I've never actually played the Episode III game, but when I saw a preview of it I could tell by the substandard graphics and combat physics and animation that it was just thrown together to make a quick buck off of the newest Star Wars movie and no real effort was actually put into it.

How cool would a "Squad commander" type game be set in the Clone Wars using the JKA engine?
Mass battle are the only thin it misses.
PS. The action in JKO/JKA is better that Episodes 2 and 3 ;D

You mean like Star Wars Republic Commando? Here's a link to the game on the lucasarts website.
