Title: Mnemosyne Class Prototype
Post by: Wicked Zombie on June 22, 2005, 10:44:14 pm: Found this stashed away on my HD after I'd forgotten about it during the server switchover. I'd intended this as the original prototype ship for the Mnemosyne (Titan) series, and it has a few differences - notably the bluer paint scheme, alternate deflector, and missing warp engine phasers. Ironic that even when I'm not making Feds, I still find some to post...

Zeus laid with Mnemosyne for nine consecutive nights and thereby created the nine muses.

And finally: Mnemosyne was also the name for a river in Hades, counterpart to Lethe, Dead souls drank from Lethe so they would not remember their past lives when reincarnated. Initiates of Orpheus were encouraged to drink from the river Mnemosyne when they died, instead of Lethe.

The river in Hades of the same name--upon reading about it--proves WZ's mind is perfectly insane as always. I meant that as a compliment. :)

Post by: Wicked Zombie on June 24, 2005, 10:07:22 pm: Another advantage of the name is that it's hard to type (and pronounce), and doesn't conflict even remotely with the Luna class Titan from the novels. I assumed they'd go with an exploration related name so I figured using something mythological would help set this version apart.

Besides, anything related to Hades can't possibly be wrong...

Although I am disappointed with that ship from the books. Personally I think that the name Titan doesn't bleong on any starship that doesn't rival the Galaxy class in size.
