Just came back from seeing this, i have to say i had some reservations before i saw it, but after seeing it i have to say the film is pretty good.
The special effects arent too shabby, the acting aint too bad, with plenty of well known established actors such as Michael Caine, Morgan Freeman etc. I also thought Christian Bale played the part of Batman pretty well.
Annyone else seen the film, if so thoughts?

I enjoyed it. I thought it a bit longish at about the 2 hour mark.

I thought it was great, better than Star Wars III. They did an excellent job portraying the Scare Crow. The only real thing they messed up on IMHO was that the Joker didn't kill Batman's parents. But I think that was done more to separate this movie from the one back in 1989.

I actually liked it. I did notice it seemed a bit long, but I didn't mind.

Jav, maybe you know, but is that how it went down in the comics? I never read them, and for some reason I thought it was a liberty the movie took. (The Joker doing it, that is).

Iceman is correct on this. Trust me, I should know...heh heh heh. The Joker had absolutely nothing to do with the death of Bruce Wayne's parents. Both that, and the name Jack Napier, were made up for the 1989 movie starring Michael Keaton. The Joker was actually a fairly minor criminal who went by the moniker "The Red Hood". He jumped into a vat of chemicals at the Ace Playing Card Company, rather than be captured by the Batman and emerged as The Joker.
Bruce Wayne's parent were killed by a two-bit hoodlum named Joe Chill.

I actually didn't notice the length, but then, I grew up on movies like Lawrence of Arabia and The Longest Day, so until it hits 4 hours, I don't care about running time. I thought the pacing was done pretty well, and while I think other super hero movies have been done better, I'm biased towards both X-Men 1 & 2 and Spider-Man because I am at heart a Marvel man.
Much better adaptation from the comics, in both tone and continuity, than any of the other Batman films. I hope the new franchise keeps things as they felt and appeared in this movie because this is the first time a movie has really felt like 'Batman' to me.

Indeed, I really hope they re-do The Joker. Jack Nicholson's performace is legendary, but I love the new Batman far too much.

Yep you're right, I was thinking that the 89 movie and the animated series from way back had it right. And to tell the truth, I like the Joker angle better. ;D
But this was still a great movie, makes me even more excited to see the Fantastic 4.

Actually 2 &3 are supposed to Feature Jocker and Harvy Dent, Aka Two face, from what I've heard. Then again, I've also hear Superman, will also finally meat the Batman on the Big screen in part 3. A huge Final Tie in.

Definately the best Batman movie made to date.
I also liked the Scarecrow. Liam Neeson's Ducard character smacks of being the real Ra Al Ghul... the one guy from the animated series & comics that always called Batman, 'Detective'.
I wonder if he is really dead? Since he is an "immorta" after a sort...

Ra's earns Batman's attention quicker than any other, because he is such a threat, but being temporarily deceased has dropped Ra's from the #1 spot for now.
BTW, do you know who does the voice of the Joker in the animated series? ;D

Michael Ansara. He played Kang on an episode of Voyager.

He also played Kang on the classic TOS episode 'The Day of the Dove', and when Kor, Kang, and Koloth showed up on DS9.
