It does indeed Krueg.
I had the same problem for a bit, damn por...I mean pro-libertarian sites :-[.
What I did D/L the fix off of another computer (work, home, friend, whatever). I got the fix from Norton's website. I then started the infected computer in Safe Mode (ensure the infected 'puter is not connected to the internet...not sure if that matters or not, but it was the step I took) and transfered the fix file via floppy (it is a small file) to my infected computer. I was able to run the fix in safe mode and the problem went away.
Others may have a better, or at least more efficient, way of getting rid of the BlasterWorm, but that one worked for me.

Unless your computer hasn't received any updates since the Blaster worm hit, I seriously doubt that Blaster is the culprit. It may be a similar virus, but I bet your computer is immune to blaster, especially if you're using XP service pack 2.

Have you tried using the Window Repair utility by booting up with XP CD? (Note: if the CD does not contain SP2 be careful not to overwrite updated files with the older ones).

1 of our 2 computers had that problem about a month ago, but it would shut down every time you opened a window to the net. Nortons corrected the problem about a week later and all was fine, but not so for 2 of my friends. They ended up formatting the whole drive and reloading what they could find. But ya, sounds like a virus similar to the one that was here about a month ago

If you have a friend who is a real computer geek, ask him for a slipstreamed Windows XP SP2 disc (he/she should know what you're talking about). Basically, this is a homemade Windows XP installation disc that includes SP2. It is perfectly legal to make as long as you own an authentic Windows XP installation disc. I made one a few months ago after I read an article that explained how to make one.

Alternatively you can order SP2 on CD from Microsoft through the Microsoft website absolutely free of charge. Yes, absolutely free of charge. I tried this myself and it actually worked. I ordered it online just to see what would happen expecting to be asked for a credit card, and instead I got a webpage stating that my disc would arrive in the mail within 2 weeks. 10 days later I received a small airmail package from Hong Kong! Inside it was the Windows XP SP2 disc. On the disc was the developers SP2 (ie. the full SP2 also available for download, about 270MB I think, not the 80MB version through the windows update site).

Hong Kong... Roffles.
