In SFB, do all races have phasers?  And why?  Cause every race has their own Beam primary weapons why do they all have phasers?

Actually not all of the races have other primary beam weapons...one that comes to mind is the romulans, which really have their phasers, and the plasma torpedo.  You can't really count the mauler as a primary beam...

Plus the phasers are actually more of a secondary defense weapon than an actual offesnive weapon...

hmh. i quess i need to try and come up with a species that uses ballistic weapons such as railguns / massdrives instead of beam weapons but otherwise normal trek type :P

Well then... there is a SFB race called the Jindarians.   They are Nomadic Gypsy wanderers...who make asteriods their homes, and sometimes their ships.   They use Warp Augmented Rail Guns for there primary heavy weapons with phasers as back up...  So you could make some of those...

But in true canon only the Feds have phasers, why in SFB do all the other races have them as well?

I guess that would be parity...and game playability...but supposedly most of SFB source material in the early days was from TOS, and from the Frank Joseph Blue Prints and such...Maybe those had Phaser indicated on them...the was a Klingon and I think a Romulan to go with the Connie...
