I just spent the last few hours working on a Borg Diamond for greenvalv's ship replacement mod for SFC3. I just wanted to know what everybody thinks about it. I haven't messed with new textures for it yet, but I think the model is just about done.
-
looks pretty good.
-
actually I hate Borg ..
But as for the model
EXCELLENT !

I really haven't made (or at least finished and made public) very many models. The only one that I've made, 100% my own work from start to finish, is the Ebon Hawk, which is available at battleclinic and sfc3files. The one at battleclinic is for all versions of SFC, but the one at sfc3files is SFC3 only. My other works are the Ulysses class, the Okinawa class, and the Akula class ships from SFC2. The models are from scratch, but the textures are straight from SFC2. The Akula is only available in my texturing tutorial, but it contains all of the files necessary for it to work in SFC3. I have also converted some of Lord Schtupp's ships to SFC3 and made them available at SFC3 files. I also converted Atrahasis' NSEA Protector to SFC3 (this was my first conversion, but it is a very thorough one) which is available at battleclinic and sfc3files.
I have done a lot of work for greenvalv's upcoming ship replacement mod. I plan on making this ship, along with all of the other ships I've been working on, available at both battleclinic and sfc3files after this mod is released. There are a few Trekmods ships that I've made some adjustments to, and greenvalv and I are working on getting permission to release these altered ships. Most of the work that I've done on this mod has been making small adjustments to ships so they will work well in SFC3. Most commonly, I have been either capping break models or creating new break models. I've also done some slight retextures and some altering to the model of the Ferengi Marauder. I also created new shuttles for the pirates and the Rakelli so they won't have to use Federation shuttles anymore.
-
Here's an update. I made some slight changes to the model and attached the pieces. Poly count is 3312. I'll start working on textures soon.

Looks good....

Got permission to release them in the mod, working on getting them to be individually released.
I also created new shuttles for the pirates and the Rakelli so they won't have to use Federation shuttles anymore.
Those will be in the Arc/Ship Replacement mod because they require the specs to be altered..... the Stock Ship Replacement mod is for those who want better ships but still want multiplayer play, no changes to the specs will be made in that one......

Does anyone have some good shots of this ship from the Voyager episodes? I'm having touble finding good reference pictures for textures.

http://www.startrekaustralia.com/startrek/borg/borgqueenship/index.htm high poly CGI model
http://images.google.co.uk/images?q=borg%20diamond&hl=en&lr=&sa=N&tab=wi Google search
http://images.google.co.uk/images?svnum=10&hl=en&q=borg+queen+ship&spell=1 or this Google search
Are those okay?? The high poly CGI version is pretty dam accurate from what I've seen.
-
Actually, I've already looked at the CGI model and the textures for it aren't all that great. Most of the detail is in the model itself. I've only been able to find one picture of the Diamond from an episode on the internet. Right now, I'm using it to make textures, but I could really use some more shots from different angles. Here's what I've been able to do so far.
-
Good large pic for the inner sphere part.....

This one's good for glows.....

That's all I could find, but that first one's the best....
-
That large one is the one I've been using. Whenever I can find a picture from an episode, it's that one.
-
I've searched every combination of names for that thing that I could think of, that's it!
-
That's why I was asking for episode screenshots. I was hoping that someone here would have Voyager on DVD and could make a few screenshots.
-
I've got it on DVD. Anyone know which season/episode it's shown in? I don't remember and don't have time to go back through, what, 2-3 seasons...
-
Here's the ship's description: http://www.startrek.com/startrek/view/library/ships/article/111741.html
It says it's in episode 211 "Dark Frontier" Part 1....
-
Here's an update.
Except for the sphere in the center, all of the textures have come from the same image. I created the center sphere texture from scratch.
-
Nice, a tad bit darker on the sphere would look better though (In accordance with the pic ;) )
-
Well, I'm finished with the basic texturing. Now I need to do illumination maps. I made some small changes to the model too, mostly just deleting unneeded polys. It now has a poly count of 3296.
-
Ok, the model is done. Now I just need to make a break model, create BS, TI, and VL views, and all of the other files needed to make it work with SFC3. Here's a side-by-side comparison between the stock Borg Diamond and my Borg Diamond.
-
I haven't finished the break model or made damage textures yet, but I've done everything else. Here are some screenshots (I'm not very good at taking screenshots, so these aren't very spectacular).
-
This is awesome, great work!!
Hehe, your PotD is gonna be the first pic without a stock Diamond!!

Actually, there have been several PotDs without a stock Diamond. This will just be the first with a non-stock Diamond. ;D
-
That's what I meant, the first pic in which a non-stock Diamond was present...
-
I know. I'm just messin with ya. ;)
-
Ok, I've just finished the break model and damage textures, so this ship is now 100% complete. greenvalv, I'm emailing it to you now. Everyone else, thank you for your help and support. You'll all be able to download it after greenvalv's mod is released.
-
Tested, it's excellent!! Every playable ship has now been replaced!! Now we just got to tackle the ones without damage textures and the Stock Ship Replacement mod will be finally FINISHED!!!

I hope this project didn't get smashed by the hurricane. I still have all of the work I've done if any of it was lost.

Would you like me to email it to you? I wasn't planning on releasing this to the public until greenvalv's mod is out, but I am willing to release it to people on an individual basis, especially if you need it for a mod.
-
IT"S RELEASED!!!! *Does victory dance* Tricorder, wait two weeks then release everything you made for this mod.

:o Look what you did to my fek'lhr!? lol

I've made some minor changes since the fek'lhr retextures released,
but don't worry -- there shouldn't be much notable difference. ;)

Hehe, had fun taking that shot....
