First off, Thanks for your service. And know that as a Fellow Vet, You'll always have a steak dinner ready for ya at my house.

Secondly, One of my best friends is leaving to go over there in about a week. Any additional advice you can offer would be much appreciated.

First off, computer and internet access is limited, for the most part. I've been here 3 weeks and only now have had the time to post here. E-mails to the loved ones back home have priority, of course. Depending on where your friend is deploying to, know that the Base Exchanges are limited in what they carry.  Have "care packages" sent ASAP from back home, as it can take up to 2 weeks to recieve a package, about a week for letters. Have something to occupy their "downtime", as it gets boring when you aren't at work.  That's it for now, Gents and thanks for the replies, even Dizzy's!!    ;D    <S>

My Brother is Spec.Ops with 3rd Grp/Ft.Bragg and has been out of the country over 11 times in the past 9 years. I really understand the importance of sent packages and wanted to encourage all our friends here to help out their families/friends overseas. Post some of the things that you prefer; we usually send my brother things to snack on, cd's/tapes, books, crosswords, the local newspaper, toiletries, etc.

Strength in Battle, and Hermes Wings to your safe return.
