Title: PvP server

Can missions be set up or written such that only the outcome of a PvP action causes a DV shift?  I know folks are opposed to a PvP only server.  I am just curious if missions could be tailored to meet the PvP criterion.

I think you would have to take all of the missions out, rewrite them, and force them to have two live players in them (one enemy, one you), and do it that way. But then you wouldn't draft missions unless an enemy was in the hex... =\

Actually, based on discussions I've had with TraceyG while shes been developing her mission pack, it's quite possible to set up custom victory conditions and custom DV shifts for victory conditions.

That said, your suggestion is entirely impractical. We don't have the player base to make this work for a server. Now, it has been suggested that PvP missions should have a higher DV shift than misions against AI, but this has not been gotten around to.

1- yes it is possible, actually didn't someone (Bonk?) just do this recently?
No missions will appear in hex unless you have 2 players

2) It's entirely practical, just wouldn't be popular. You don't need a large player base
to support such a system, you simply need a smaller, more focused map.

STOC's VG format (though not entirely as they did it) is the best way if you want all PvP.

Something along Jakle's Econ War scenarios.

You could have an AI in there.

Wow, you'd think the proviso that a PvP server is not a popular idea would be enough to deflect criticism regarding such a server.  I guess not.  ::)

All I wanted was a straight answer.  I got one.  Thanks to those who answered the question.
