Just kinda looking for peoples opinions on the" GG"
I've had players who are losing run to the border, type out "GG", then pull a HET ,try and dump an alpha, then move to reengage.
I've also had players run for the border- while they're still 30-40 from the border type out "gg" then get upset when I take another shot at them.
I haven't really paid attention, usually I use GG after I've run off the field, died, or killed an enemy but should I be
A) Ignoring any "GG" until the other guy is either off the field or dead
B) Honour a "GG" no matter when it's issued, other player has for all intents and purposes decided to end the game and I should let them fly off..
Obviously not that big a deal, just wondering what the rest of you do..
-
GG in your case means "get growing" :P
-
I use GG when I know the battle is definitely won or lost. If I am losing, about to blow up, I will type GG, but may take a parting shot at you because I know I will blow up anyway. If winning, I may do GG just before the final shot, but most likely I will just kill you first then GG. Not that you and I have ever flown vs each other(i think) Hexx.

I'll probably offend someone here, but people that do that don't need to be here. That is the kinda chickensh1t thing that we don't need here and would really sour me on the whole experience.

I figure if you are losing, have the good grace to let the other guy finish winning. typing "gg" is not how you say "uncle!" It's how I say good game...

shouldn't be an issue, you're right. Pay the losers no mind. Remember their name, and tell others....
my two cents....

I never had GG used that way against me.
I do feel that unless the two sides have both agreed on the disengagement neither side should be acting upset if the other side continues the battle. I have allowed several opponents over the years to disengage. I offered to allow it and they accepted. I've even had to tractor my AI "helpers" away from them to allow the disengagement.
One side may offer or request a disengagement but neither is required to accept the offer. Assume that the other side will allow you to disengage at your own risk. Assume that they are disengaging at your own risk (I lost a ship that way :) to Tempest) as well.

Same here. I usually type in GG just before I blow up, or as I'm kicking in "MOMMY" Drive to try to get to the Border ;D
And Hexx I only used that GG fib on you once, and that was over a Year ago. I thought you would have forgotten about that by now ;D

Humm GG..
Ok Meen's Good Game.. A compliment ment or at least a courtasy.
I'm Klingon.. and, I'm a Gamer.. The Battle is over when one of the following conditions is fulfilled.
1. The Enemy ship is dead.. (thats when I acnowlage "gg" I dont chat and fight unless we're really hory old enemies)
((Hi Jinn))
2. The Enemy Chip is Captured. (Yes I an also Known to do that..you've been warned)
3. The Enemy ship has fled.. I can always reply to the GG in general chat. and the victory screen is up.
As long as I can see you, and you have operational weapons, and you are in range then you are in combat with me untill the game says different.
Pray I dont get a D7DX.

Personally, I never type "gg" unless the game is only seconds away from ending, or if I'm dead. Sometimes it means I dont quite have enough time to type it. I only type "gg" if I actually think the game was good.
It was originally supposed to tell your opponent or wingman you had a "good" game, as opposed to a bad one. It has become synonomous with saluting a fellow player these days, even when it wasn't a good game. I've heard many people say on TeamSpeak, "I still typed in good game, but that guy is an a**hat".
I think if you're serious about declaring a surrender and want to end the match, typing in "gg" is not the way to do it. You can declare your intent to surrender and leave the map by specifically stating this in chat in game and then backing up your statement by lowering your shields, turning off weapons and heading for the border. An honourable player will not take advantage of this, however, I would wait until your opponent acknowledges your intent before doing so. If your opponent hasn't agreed to your surrender, then there is really nothing to do but die. This is especially the case if your ship is worth VCs in a campaign.

When I type 'GG', it means Good God, and I getting ready to break out my version of a James Brown song.
"Huuuhh"
"Aaiiieeeeeeehhh"
"Help me now!!"
You get the idea
<warning, Will Robinson, extreme smart-ass alert>
;D ;D ;D

If someone types gg then HETs back in and manages to kill me,I will ignore disengagement rule because the game was called b4 the dishonorable tactic was used.If they dont like it tell them to go **** their hat.
