Here's a teaser of 3 ships pending texture tweeks from Lord Schtupp. One design is by Azel, the other 2 come from the Starship Schematic database.
-
My god, that ship is mostly nacells!!! Nice feel to them tho, specially the Enterprise.
-
The multi nacelle ships come from this Bibliography...........

this ship will be a great heavy cruiser, 4x15 point = 60 point, you can kick but with this ship, just need good shield and it will last long into battles :)
-
Noooo.... that's a Federation Fast Cruiser. Instead of hot warps, tandem standard warps!
I wonder if ADB has this on file...

Actually Norsehound that's the USS Coral Sea NCC-1938 and she is a Battlecruiser.

I think you're definately on the right path Don.... care to do the ship specs ?
The second multi-nacelle ship is the USS Star Ranger NCC-2120 and naturally she's a dreadnought.
The third ship is a destroyer I believe, it's an original Azel aka Atolm design USS Thunderbolt NCC-120

I don't think the connie looks all that hot with 5 nacelles, or 4 for that matter, but that's just me.

I just bash 'em. Adds some more variety to the games and that's what it's all about. ;)

A battlecruiser? Fah! By that definition we can stick two excelsior nacelles on a Burke Frigate hull and call it an NBC! (New Battle Cruiser).
-
I thought the connie was a battlecruiser anyways?
-
All signs that I know of point to the constitution class as a Heavy Cruiser. At least, that's what SFU thinks.
Paramount probably would call it 'an explorer'- like they do with any cool ship in the fleet.
-
Yes, the Connie is a Heavy Cruiser

What do you get when you put two more warp engines on a standard heavy cruiser?
This, pretty much.
If you notice, Fast cruisers (like the FD7) have thier heavy weapons decreased to allow them more speed and power reinforcement. Plus, it means they can do overloads while running circles around the enemy.
Just because it has extra nacelles doesn't make it a battlecruiser, or add any special extra super shielding. If I bash a frigate with 4x Excelsior nacelles, does that make it a battleship now, with 50 sheilds, just because it has bigger engines?
I say this because I have a distaste for hotrod starships. The only race to ever feild a super heavy cruiser (In SFU history and ingame) were the Romulans, and that idea was killed when X ships came along.
-
The original schematic says the coral sea is a battlecruiser, and that's how I'm gonna release it. Like I said earlier you can restat her anyway ya wish. That's the beauty of Star Trek ;D Besides there are already a few TOS and TMP Fast Cruiser models out there already. I'm making ships that aren't already in game ;).
