Title: New lifeboats or Old Lifeboats?

I'm just curious what peopls opinions are on the Lifeboat designs of TNG.  It seems that Star Trek wants to use the Lifeboats we see on the Soverign and Akira class ships, but I've always liked the ones on the Galaxy, Intrepid and other similar ships.  Just seems like the Lifeboats aren't exposed to space as much as these new ones.

Anyways, any opinion on this?

Is this for a new model ? If so I would use the lifeboats of that era. LOL and don't forget the Defiant lifeboats are unique as well. Otherwise it really doesn't matter to me

well, I think it depends on the ship design and style. The design of the E would not look good with D pods, and the galaxy class and voyager wouldn't look good with E type pods. I like whatever pod style best matches the ships hull design. Besides, technicly, we're seeing the hatch, not the pod itself, so there. ;D

I sort of disagree with you about D-pods looking bad on the Soverign class.  I experimented a little bit with a Model kit of the Ent-E by putting D-pods on it, and I kinda liked them a little more.  Just my opinion though.
