Title: Quick, simple Wireless question
Post by: Clark Kent on November 02, 2005, 04:11:39 pm
What kinda of wireless are there out there?  I know of:
802.11a
802.11b- 11mbps
and 802.11G- 54 mbps

What wireless networking am I missing here?

802.11a is obsolete.

802.11b is 11mbps

802.11g is 54mbps

there is a new g standard that pushes it up to 104mbps I believe...but to be honest with you...you're not gonna notice the speed unless you're transferring files from computers on the same home network.

Most broadband connections top out at about 5mbps.

Hehe, there are thousands.  You might need to tighten up your question a bit http://grouper.ieee.org/groups/802/11/802.11_Timelines.htm
