Now that the house has 2 PCs located far apart I had to break dwn and get a router. As I knew of the hassles I decided to research of the problems I would no doubt encounter. Mapping ports....that is my problem. The router has a few pre-mapped games to click incl ie:gamespy.BF ect.Tried port magic to no avail (couldn't get it to run right).I am frustrated and at wits end. I have read the book ...I know what to do .....I just cant figure out how to find which friggen ports I have to open.AARRRGGHHH!!!
D-Link DI 624 if any1 can help would be app thx

Soth:
There is a whole section on this in the "How to D2". You may still have to select DMZ for the gaming PC, depending on your router.

Static LAN config, port forward 2300-2400tcp&udp and 47624tcp, allow WAN pings, that is all.

I have a Linksys WRT54G wireless router and not only had to run in DMZ (too many games, not enough ports known) but also had to disable the built in firewall in the router.
After that, no more problems. ;)

Make that: 2300-2400tcp&udp and 47624tcp... apologies.

Don't forget to disable your Windows software firewall service.
I spent a whole year watching people drop on me in this game due that stupid software firewall. >:(
Software firewalls are bad news. Don't use them if you can.
