Got a Linksys WRT54G router a few weeks ago, gave up for a bit, but I really need to get it going!
Went through the normal setup by inserting the disk and running the program, no go. Tried manually, and still no go.
I go to the router's set up page: 192.168.1.1, select PPoE since I'm on DSL. I put in my ISP's username and password, and change the timezone. That's all I change on the setup page.
I go to the status page and click connect. It tries a few times and says "Failed to recieve a IP number from the PPoE server"
I've checked my network connections. THe local area connection is connected as well as the 1394 net adapter. Under broadband, it's usually disconnected as I just use the always on connect. If the router is not hooked up, I can click that connection, and it will connect. If I have the router hooked up, it will not.
Any ideas? I'm so lost...lol. Computer networking is not my bag baby ;)

I have the WRT54GS (which is your router with just speedbooster).
You don't want PPoE...
Select Automatic Configuration - DHCP.
DHCP Server: Enable
Let your DSL modem handle the PPoE

I concur with SkyFlyer. use DHCP.

You can have PPoE on the router, but you need to set the DSL modem to allow it.
DHCP is just much easier.

OK, cool. I'll try it out.
