 ;D ;)

For me, it is Saturnalia but I still use the by now traditional Merry Christmas.

I have to work at my part-time gig at a hotel both the 24th and the 25th.

To all my fellow modellers, texturers, and forum hang abouts i wish the lot of you a festive, raucous, biosterous and SAFE celebrations
this Christmas!

spare a thought or two to the men and women of our Armed Forces currently in harm's way.

Unfortunately I have to visit my Christian relatives this year so it's not going to be very 'merry' for me.

Everyone have a great Dies Natalis Solis Invicti (Birthday of the Invincible Sun) and no one get themselves injured/maimed/killed (lots of car crashes this time of year cause of the all the drunk party goers).

P.S. Anthsco, Saturnalia ended 2 days ago mate. ;)

What is is where you're from, and Saturnalia? That one I've defenetly never heard   of.  Who  celebrates that and where?

Lol, its the Roman Winter Solstace celebration. Its where most of our christmas traditions come from, ie: christmas trees and gifts.

Duhh, I knew that, but I am still recovering from all the festivites at both jobs and from my family getting together.

Btw, here are some links about Saturnalia:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saturnalia

http://penelope.uchicago.edu/~grout/encyclopaedia_romana/calendar/saturnalia.html

whatever you call it, it is the time of year where we find ANY excuse to party! ;D :D ;)

Yo Anthsco, the kind of joking point I was making was that you didn't need to extend Saturnalia beyond it's normal time (17th to the 23rd IIRC) for an excuse to party on the 25th, cause you can use Dies Natalis Solis Invicti as the excuse instead.

What is is where you're from, and Saturnalia? That one I've defenetly never heard   of.  Who  celebrates that and where?

Starforce, I'm in Essex just outside of London so it's Christmas here like it is for practically everyone else in the western world but I don't celebrate it or any Christian holiday as I'm an atheist. I do however observe some of the Roman religious festivals as I'm of phoenician/greek/roman/arabic/norman/catalan descent on my father's side. Most Romans didn't believe in the gods for real so it doesn't really conflict with my (lack of) beliefs.

No one at all really celebrates it anymore, except for a few Roman reconstructionists/enthusiasts and those neo-pagan idiots who think the witch trials were about them (mostly teenage girls with no self-esteem).
