OUTALANCE SHIPYARDS
U.S.S. SURAK NCC-65601
Federation Light Cruiser
Time Period: Late TNG

Designed as a patrol cruiser, SURAK is more compact than its big sisters, the Galaxy class explorers.
With a slightly smaller secondary hull housing more hangar area, and fewer crew allowing more cargo space, this class' primary task is patrolling the Federation's borders and resupplying outposts.
Pressed into service during the Maquis crisis, a ship named after a great peacemaker accounted for herself well in battle.

Sorry, busy day at work with anticipated combat with 2 year old tonight....
Good work though. I like all the variations that you are doing with the Galaxy and Nebula classes!

I like the design, but I'm not sure how the Vulcan pasifist elements would take to having a patrol/combat vessel named after Surak. I know that T'pau, as the Eldest Mother of the House of Surak, would probably go spinning in her grave... if she had not been cremated.
That being said, I think this is a very logical patrol cruiser based on Galaxy elements. The smaller, stubbier profile would make it a less inviting target, and the retention of a full-sixed Galaxy saucer would mean that it retains a lot of the Galaxy's beam firepower. It would definately be a heavily-armed ship for it's size and weight. Also, retaining the Galaxy engines would mean that it would be faster than it's larger cousin, with more discretionary power to devote to defensive measures, like shields and tractors.
All in all, a great bash!
