Ok, I finished the dorsal and lateral hull edges on the ship. I will have to comb it over for tweaks once it is completed, but I think the dorsal hull is pretty much finished. Here are some detail pics, let me know what you think.

I'm glad you like it...my main gripe is the same as yours...some of the textures are too fuzzy. Blame it on me trying to restrict myself to two 1024 sheets for the model and not starting with huge textures to downsize like I should have. I have been told smart modelers (like Atolm, Wicked Zombie, Atrahasis, LC Amaral and many more marqi mesh mechanics and artists in this community and BC) work with huge textures and downsize them afterwards. Me, being the idiot I am, didn't think of that. I'll do that on the next model.
Second, I still cant make TGAs properly, so I am stuck with using BMPs, which means having to mess with the settings for the bump, specular and glow to keep the mesh from glowing all over or the glows washing out AND keeping the glows in color. I'm still a newber in the worst way...I hope my skills can improve soon. Although I'm happier with this mesh as opposed to the MaveQ, it is still not making me all warm and fuzzy inside.
Finally, I have to work on box modeling...apparantly I model too many separate objects. In the interim, I'm trying to just mold the objects together, cutting here and there to form them into as solid a shape as I can. In the future I hope to make a mesh out of a single object.
I'm working on the ventral hull now, I should have this one done by the end of next week.

just a newer? ive never seen a noob pull off a ship like this :P honest to god, if the next ST is in era for this ship, this should be in it, it just LOOKS like something they would actually use in the show :D
and its only blurry up close, the other shots that are farther away look great :D

I can honestly say I think this is THE FINEST Klingon ship made to this date !!!!!!!!!

Well, you have to remember that I have been working in this industry for about 7 years or so, so this is a late start. I should have learned modeling myself long ago.

You can increase the DPI scale some to reduce that blur. Standard is about 72 DPI but more can be added to clear things up. The size you start with doesn't matter that much, it just allows for some smoothing blending as you shrink them down, and some detailling to get lighter. You will notice that most use multiple textures this is so details can be added to some areas well other vast areas with little to no details can be on one.
If you make the model with BMPs' and light maps then export it to BC format you will get TGAs' out of the deal, with very little work on your part. No problems with box modelling you can always combine those groups into a single one as you go too.
Everything you see and do allows you to learn, it might take some time to get the look you want but you will get it if you try long enough. The difference between New and old hat is the speed at which they can do things.
