Ok, first shot of ventral hull work. I'm not sure if I like the panel crowd in the center (supposed to remind of the Neghvar), perhaps it needs to be a little tighter. I changed the panel blades on the hull to more closely match the Neghvar pattern. Let me know what you think sofar.

looks nice man... you can tell your spending allot of time and being patient with it... ;)
-
Absolutely amazing, it gets better with every WIP pic

Thanks...I'm going to go with larger textures, and more sets next time...I will use 4 map sets instead of two, and use 4096x4096 maps, downsizing them to 1024's when done to minimize the blurs.
-
Here's the latest...I wanted opinions on the colored panels for the x pattern....I was thinking I should just go with plain colored panels. Let me know what you think.
-
Ill tell you what I think......
Fantastic... your allot more patient with your texturing than i am and it shows.... great work man... the cross looks great as is!!!
-
Thanks...I did decide to subdue the cross pattern just a bit. I'll post pics when I get this one done, probably at the end of the week.

Mind blowing !!!!! Every Klingon ship should have textures this fine ;D.

Thanks...I'm very close to being done with this, but I think I might redo some of the textures, IE the ones that are really blurry. I have the room on the second map.

The tears are shorting out my keyboard...awesome...

Thank you.
Ok, here is my dilemma of sorts....scaling. I have decided to try my hand at properly scaling the model before I have it converted. I wanted this ship to be shorter but wider than the Neghvar, and I am using a Neghvar from SFC3 (9of9's mesh) plus a galaxy (P81). I have included a shot for reference.
If this looks right to you guys, my next problem is decks and windows. The bridge sizes on the Neghvar and the HOK are about the same, not sure about the windows though. Also, I need to know how many decks (approximately) the Neghvar has. I know the lengths for the Neghvar and the Galaxy, so length for the HOK should be easy.
On a side note, texturing is finished. I might tweak the textures here and there, since I have additional room in the maps, and then I have to make mesh corrections and other tweaks, and it should be ready for conversion. i just need to establish the size and the windows.

Ooooooooo baby I can't wait !!!!

Hehe
Ok, here are the shots of the work sofar....pic heavy. Note that I have not added the glow, specular or bump maps for the ventral hull yet.
-
By the way, I uploaded a new scale shot, seems the 9of9 Neghvar was too small, or the P81 Galaxy too big. Since I am using the Galaxy as my control group, I upsized the Neghvar and HOK respectfully. I am thinking the HOK will sit around 630 meters or so.

Thats some awsome work... very awsome!! ;)
You'll be up there with the best of em in no time ;)
-
How beautiful!
-
f*ck that's awsome

Heh...what an endorsement ;D
Ok, I believe the ship is very close to completion. I am tweaking the textures and fixing errors in the mesh, and she will be ready for conversion.
One question...I have removed the bump map from the model, and I was wondering what the advantage of the map is. From what I could see, all it did was add depth when there was no depth in the textures, but I already added depth manually, and besides, it would accent every single hue difference in the texture, making the textures look horrible IMO. I understand the specular, so it shines in the light, and of course the diffuse and glow (still cant get black and white glows to work yet), but I think that there is no benefit to the bump map unless I do not add depth to the texture itself. Tell me if I am wrong...
-
It all depends on how well you can add in the depth I suppose...
Bump maps are fantastic for giving depth excellent when you want hull detail without meshing it in... but since sfc3 cant handle em? why bother..
but I know you models are for BC mainly... it would be nice to see some ingame renders with... and without bump mapping to see how the actual
ingame renderer handles the difference...
That then would give you your answer.. whats the point? try it ingame to find out... ;)
p.s. you can add depth very well anyways ;D

:o
Beautiful ship, worthy enough to carry the name of Kahless to the stars!
Qapla!!!!! ;D
