Title: This years garden....
Post by: NJAntman on May 05, 2006, 04:41:25 pm
$18 worth of seedlings:

28 Beefsteak Tomatoes
8 Bell Peppers
4 White Eggplants

And this year I'll have enough tomatoe cages for each, no more sticks & string.

I wonder if Punisher Industries sells anti-squirrel landmines?

Hey, I'm actually trimming down by about two dozen plants. But I've only got a 15 foot by 15 foot plot, and I'm the tractor. ;D

Would you happen to know if garlic can be cultivated? We keep getting unused cloves sprouting in the fridge and instead of tossing them out I'd try to grow it, but not sure how.

I was thinking of you this morning man. I'll take my pics soon. I am trying a coconut fiber planter for my small tomatoes. as you know, I was thinking of doing the upside down growers, but it slipped my mind in time. I was thinking of trying the red mesh that is supposed to increase your yield too.

OK Stephen, garlic goes in! Just hope I can keep it seperated from the wild onions that sprout up everywhere.

Hey Jack, how do you use red mesh, and for what?

If it's good enough for the USDA and Clemson University, it's good enough for me. It's worth a shot for me at that price. I stand corrected though, it's a plastic film, not a mesh. Still, that's even better, no other plants growing around the tomatoes.  ;D

Sure we do, we have a wide range of anti-squirrel munitions.

Today's modern squirrel requires a more powerfull military solution than the squirrels of your grandfathers time.

Behold, the squirrel-squisher 2000.

Try one of the motion-sensor sprinkler rigs.  It'll detect the little bast*ard and shoot water at him.  And all it does it water the plants.

Genius!

How about motion sensitive machine guns? Bah! It matters not if your garden gets destroyed! This is a war mister! A war between you and them, and do you want those rabid little nut-gobblers to get the best of you?! HUH?! DO YA!?

Well, golly, I wasn't planning on a scorched earth policy in my own backyard. Just little land mines to blow off they're frikkin little paws, maybe singe a few tails as well. Just enough so a three legged squirrel named Stumpy will advise the other squirrels against coming over the fence to feast.

A free fire zone may upset the neighbors. Perhaps Punisher Industries has electric fencing in the product line?

I must be getting old. My first thought at seeing that was setting it up to keep the neighborhood kids of the lawn.

Sure. The electric fence has two settings: Origional and extra crispy.
