Contrary to my recent posts denouncing Star Trek XI and the Academy young Kirk/Spock Wonder Years idea, I do indeed enjoy TOS and the Enterprise tie-in to it. Just no movie, please.
I am not a C++ scripter, 1st to admit it, but I do know what looks good and feels good in SFC. I've been making little scenarios with FMSE in EAW and have created a little 'In A Mirror, Darkly' script. It contains 9 Tholian ships (Brezgonne model), a base (where the TOS Defiant was stolen from) and a TOS Connie (Stress Puppy model) that is vastly superior to anything else - Ph4s, etc. (to simulate the major time/technology differences from NX to NCC). The mission kept crashing. At 1st I thought it was the Tholian model. I created a break mod for it (none existed) and made sure the specs were accurate - no extreme settings. I took it out of the game entirely, just using the base, still crashed. I added the Tholians back in and took out the NX model, a P81 version. No Crash! Other FMSE scenarios without the NX model went perfectly.
Have there been any reports of the NX-01 P81 model not working or causing a crash? I flew a single player skirmish with that model. As soon as I was hit with 4 Phaser Gs, CRASH TO DESKTOP. This is completely baffling, as I've substituted other models in place ofthe NX in my scenario and all went well. I downloaded an NX Model from Battleclinic - still crashed. There were two NX models on Battleclinic, I'll try the other one....

Well I fixed my problem.. By rearranging how I placed the NX model in the scenario. FMSE was fun in the old days, and still is. The real mission was to stop the NX-01 from getting blown up by Tholians. FMSE is apparently picky about how you place allies.
Here's the Mission text:
Briefing:
Jonathan Archer has stolen a ship from the future and has gone on a conquest to overthrow Starfleet. But first, he must get past the Tholians..
Start message in game:
9 Tholian ships, scattered about, coming to rendezvous with us. We need to destroy that base as well. Protect the NX-01..
Like I said, the Connie in this scenario can lay waste to all nine Tholians plus the base.. The trick is to protect the NX..
This is all in EAW. I'd like to create some little missions like this for UAW, but alas my scripting skills have a high learning curve at this point.
ANYONE KNOW WHERE I CAN GET SOURCE CODE FOR FMSE? I'm working with a scripter who wants to do an FMSE type thing for Orion Pirates!! He needs to reference source code for the current FMSE (Fleet Mission Script Editor) for EAW. Wouldn't that be just the best thing in a long while?

Thanks, Crim. I have PM-ed The Great Eagle. I hope this all goes well.
The scripter did say that he would look at doing one anyway, without code, if its not available. It would just be easier with the code.

Wow! That is a neat Senario idea. I don't play UAW, but I kinda liked that ep of the Mirror universe and we found out what happened to the Defiant in the TOS era. I think playing this senario would be really great.

well do you want the bad news or the bad news...
i talk to heavens eagle from time to time on icq. we were chatting about this exact issue not too long ago. well here it is. do you remember that there were two members of eagle-eye? the guys that released fmse and those other cool proggy's. heaven's eagle and remus. well remus was the coder. he never made an OP compatable fmse, also H.E. doesn't have the source-code anymore for FMSE and doesn't believe remus does either. i know, sux eh? when i talk to heavens eagle next, i'll send him your way chris jones. maybe he can shed some more light on the subject... :'(

FMSE for SFC OP would make the game complete, and even more awesome than it already is. It would breathe new life into the game.

Actually all I did was a little GUI layout and usage on FMSE. Remus has all the source code and I have not seen him in quite a while. Not even sure if he still has the old stuff. Anyway FMSE was only done for SFC not any of the later versions. So sorry folks but can't help you there.
