i want to shift my tower to another room and use my laptop (which i have yet to purchase) wherever. so i need to make the tower the internet hub. problem is i have dial up and will have dial up for some time. can someon recommend and appropriate wireless set up based on that.

I think what you do is buy a good wireless router, then share the dial-up connection to the cpu that is plugged into connectioon #1

I cannot reccomend wireless gear of any kind. UTP is good up to 100m and far more reliable and secure.
Something like this would probably be the way to go for you:

Jerry Somewhere Here, I have a program that I used along time ago on CD that allows one too connect Via A regular or Wireless connection, and use a Phone line for connectivity. If nothing else, A good lynkys Router like the one I have will get you set up. If nothing else, when and If you come up, we can Toss some ideas around.

Storm, see if you can find a D-Link DI-704P router...the old one. It has a COM port on the back for an external modem and a print server. I know this isn't wireless, but I used it for awhile to share a dialup connection and had no problems. Currently running same with a Linksys wireless sitting on top and surfing beautifully!
