Title: Old player returning...and feeling pretty lost

Hi all :) I used to play back in the day, but I've been gone a while. I'm looking to get back into the game, but(and I hate to sound like an idiot), I'm more than a little confused about the servers now. I have a fresh cd version of OP installed on my comp, so if anybody could give me any suggestions as to what kind of patches, etc i need to download, then how to hook up to a good server, I would really appreciate it. Thnx!

I would suggest Pesty's EXCELLENT enhancement pack.  ;)

Sorry guys I know you're trying to help, but please disregard the last two posts JackSparrowJive.

The first link is way out of date and overly complicated.

The second link is to the current Enhancement Pack 4 which is broken due to incompatibilites between OP+4 and the old OP+4 Hardcore edition.

(its down to four cartels now though but you can login on any of the eight... looking for the valid cartels list now...)

edit: the BeastRaiders, Prime, Wyldefire and Camboro are the currently playable Cartels on Economic War.

thnx for the info. re: the economic wars server: is it just a pirate server or can you still play the major empires?

just a pirate server   1.5 weeks into a 3 week server  :)

Are there any "normal" servers that have all 8 races playable as well as the cartels?

"The forge" is up pretty much all the time - running campaigns that last for several months.  It won't have many folks on 'til EW finishes, but is a good campaign for drop ins or nutters alike.

There's also Strayy's Tavern and Universe at War, though (shameful confession) I haven't actually done the installs to try those out yet.
