Title: Yet Another Shiplist Question
Post by: Hexx on June 12, 2006, 04:09:00 pm
Of course I'm not actually sure anyone who knows is still around..

Anyway- would there be any huge issues created by hauling out pretty much all
of the non-leader variants of a particular class?
For example- with the Lyrans there's a CW,CW+,CWp,CWPP plus another 4 variants of the CWLP, and no one
will likely choose to fly anything other than the CWLP. Between the CW and CWLPP there's a 30 point BPV difference.
I assume the missions will be able to live with this...

Just thinking that cutting out all the ships no one actually uses might help stability a little bit.

I don't think this will be a problem.

In my experience, the server gets really upset if you are missing a hull type (FF, CL, CA, DN) but treats BPV matching as mostly a set of "guidelines" rather than real law.  It will often give you a really bad BPV match.

But since no one has ever tried this, the only real test is to strip down your server list and find out.

Assuming you mean first year available and not, uhmm, <expletive deleted> us all it shouldn't be an issue
Years in service are easy enough to check and cross reference so that if a CW is out the year before a CWL version then it can be included until the
leader version is out.
