well, aside from the tzinki and a few halfway decent bashes by mackie the ship has never really had a tng refit. This one seems to do the trick, and I think the nacelles on the exsisting model could be slightly modified to do the trick with a texture update. Essentialy the nacelle has just had a layer shaved off to inset a bussard and manifold. Seems like a good idea to me.

There's a version of this at Battleclinic I believe. I know someone did a TNG refit of the Oberth. ;)

a refit if the Oberth is good but this shows that guys that make those models have no knowledge of use of some parts of the ships and what kind of equipment is added there.
at the place where the to big deflector is added are the forward sensors and special sensors placed so the deflector makes no sense there for me, sorry
the rest of the design is good but only usefull for private research organisations with connections to the federation.

What is that thing sticking down at the center of the ship between the bridge and sensor moduals in the fore and aft views?

Looks like a vertical intermix chamber. Or might be even a turbolift. Or both.

If only I could make my textures look like that. :(

Also looks like it has a forward and aft firing torp/probe launcher.

Yup I agree it does look like a torp launcher

If AV can do the mesh and the map ...  I can do the textures.  BTW..  I personally have no problem with the deflector ..

IMHO in the same sense of the word that the Miranda had problems with the deflectors built into the hull ..   so does the lack of the larger deflector here ..  (granted this is at high warp ) ...  BTW.. please note that was why I have included in the Bass Master Refit and the USS Mako a deflector dish in the weapons/sensor pod.

The return of the deflector dish here ..  in the model pictured above is welcomed.

If the deflector was not needed .. it would have also been removed from the Sovereign class.

Just my opinion ..

Well i found the rest of the ship im pretty much dead sure the ship in the pic is this sucker, i personaly would love to see this one made it is a TNG refit and it could be done using LC's Pegasus Model which does have a TNG feel to it. :P

this is the one I think would be cool ...   just a few items updated to TNG .  I should be able to do the textures if AV can do the mesh  ( he still does a much better job on meshes than I do )

Looks like we have a competition going here then guys, as I was going to bash LC's mesh of the TNG Oberth and retexture it...

It's clearly not a female starship ;D

What is it with phalic objects and you today? ;)

F_W - who do I talk to about getting permission to bash LC's Oberth? I remember you saying something about it, but I can't remember what it was? Must be the fumes from that wasp incident clouding my memory ;)

This is my first ever bash - yer I'm a bashing virgin, or was. Baptism of fire and all that. I'm going to retexture the whole thing.

Actually - does this qualify as a kitbash as I am just modifying an existing mesh and building my own components instead of bashing together one or more components from a existing ships?

Still got more phasers to add, please torpedo launchers. Oh and I know that there's only one nacelle at the moment - I'll get one right and then mirror it across!

I still prefer the one that was hosted on StarTrekAustrailia and that was also available on USSMiranda.com

Thanks for the kind words - I'll post progress soon. What's this other one that people are talking about?

The tzinki is an oberth shaped ship but it's a bit more pointy and is fully modern. Only the general design is clearly Oberth. I think I got one around here I can send ya in sfc format if you want to have a look.

Thanks MP. Well... it's quite chunky. It's a shame that it doesn't share the elegance of the Oberth - but it is nice to see a hull with a similar configuration pattern.
