If any of you old timers remember the modeler Rick Knox, who hung around the old Taldren boards for a long time, then listen up.
He's currently working on a new trek game, Star Trek Legacy, from Mad Doc. THere's and interview with him on page 24 of the October 2006 issue of PCGamer.
GO RICK!

P81 was and is, an old friend of mine. Heck I stook with the guy during the Dungeon siege days. Always happy to see him doing good.

I consider him one of the top three modelers ever...and a pioneer in the early SFC modeling days. Hats off to him!
-
It's good to hear that Rick's working on Legacy and that his days of modeling for us have served him well during his later endeavors :)
Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't he do some modeling for Star Wars: Galaxies as well? I seem to remember a topic about that from a long time ago.

Cool, It's also nice to see that he's still employed with the same place. The way some places treat people as disposable, it's cool to see he's stuck around. Of course they couldn't have a better person on staff if they are going to be doing Trek games.

Mad Doc seems to be a great place to be as far as quality games are concered. They may not be innovators yet, but they are quickly mastering the RTS genre and will be with the likes of Relic in no time!

I've seen some of the previews, and his skills have done nothing but grow, and his accomplishment have done nothing but become greater. HE's truely one of the SFC greats, and it's awesome to see that his hobby has lead him to gainful employment.
It's every Trek fan's dream, and you are living it...
CONGRATS, RICK!!!

One of the things, I remeber most about the gentleman, was That he learned about Modeling during the old ST game armada. He wanted to mod it for his own use, and that's what started him on his Mad Modding skills.
Now back when SFC2 came out, Of course we where playing Fed, on I think articfire's server, well It went without question that he would be The Fed President. The man asked Both me and Nannerslug to be Vice's . Up untill the Crash, we both had helped to Conquer the known Galaxy.
That's another guy I haven't heard from lately, Nannerslug. I hope he's well.

I think I read that he's over on another forum spreading anti-SFB propoganda, so it sounds like Nanner's doin' the same as always (I don't know if I'd call it well). ;)
Heh, I remember playing against Rick when I was the Romulan Praetor (hope I didn't role play too hard, I was just getting into things). Too much fun, and a great guy. Man, I miss the good old days.

LOL, Nanners still good people, If he wasn't His dad would Put the Hurt on him. ;D I kinda miss him as much as I miss Old P81.
Man we are talking about people that we used to fly with/against almost 6-7 years ago. I think this is about the best Nostalgia thread to come along in awhile.

rick may not be working on legacy, he works for sony online now and not maddoc iirc. he is a very cool guy and a friend on msn for me. altho i haven't spoken to him in a while he still has fond feelings for this community
-
Remember him,
Glad to see he is doing well for himself, he learned by helping the communities get new models for games. What he learned he also pasted on with advice for anyone who asked, was always willing to help ppl get started.
I hope he continues to do well.

Good lord! It has been that long hasn't it? Doesn't seem right. Such is life, I guess. Hopefully some of these new Trek games will get the right eyes looking back to the franchise, and we see a resurgence in this style of Trek gaming at some point in the future. Maybe some of those old faces, who will undoubtedly be that much older then, will show their faces once again in these hallowed halls. Maybe even P81 will join the fold again (imagine the stuff he could put in with a new graphics engine, with a little spare time and all the knowledge he's built up over the years.)

Unless thats QUITE recent (IE since press time of PCGamer this month) I think you're mistaken.
I could be totally wrong though, as always.

I remember Rick Knox from the good ol Taldren days, litterally years ago, good to hear he's doing well.
I hope you are too, IceMan (are you from Ireland-was it?)
-
If I remember correctly way back when the dynaverse was new he spent an afternoon trying to take a remote beach head into Klingon space and I spent the time holding him off. Battle after battle where one of us would be forced to disengage but neither of us able to destroy the other. I had a great time that day. :)
-
p81 he's he not the one who created the website "Eras of war" (not Galaxie at war)?
