Wow! Not only that, but when a "penny stock" is featured on CBS, you know it's not crap stock. This car is only the beginning and will force Toyota and Honda to get on it!

Check out those splits! Lookie here too, a 10% dividend?  :o They are up there with Frontline.

If they can get a Corolla or Civic sized car that gets around a 300 miles range, that thing will sell, especially if prices drop to around 20k and a Federal tax break is included.  ;D

Electricity is still much cheaper than gasoline.  ;)

hell, if they can get it to 200 miles range and recharge in 5 minutes they'd sell bigtime

Assuming it takes about 5 minutes to fill your tank

To get my business, they'll only have to make a battery-powered TRUCK that can tow a 2 cord paperwood trailer or get down a muddy logging road in 4WD while still getting at least that 200 mile range on the road.

I need the truck bed to haul firewood, animals, people, etc... it's a non-negotiable point.

You may get your wish J.C.

The new hybrid Camry gets 194 H.P.

My gas powered Camry has 154 stock H.P.

I'm envious.  :(

Nah... just need enough room to carry around a few drunk friends without getting nervous about them messing up the upholstery. ;D

Chevrolet does make a hybrid truck (Silverado Hybrid), they just don't promote it much.

Yeah, but it only gets a slight boost in gas milage (about 3 MPG) over my 327 V8, and its a V6... not good for towing anything substantial.

Also, it's a LOT more expensive to maintain and purchase.

Till they can make something COMPETITIVE that has the necessary traits, then I'm sticking with a straight ICE engine- though I'd pull the gas engine and drop in a diesel if they could get biodiesel down to a decent (under $2/gallon) price nationwide.

Toyota has made much more substantial gains in H.P. for their hybrids, and Honda has even more, at the expense of their fuel economy of course.

Why don't they do diesel hybrids?  A diesel can run on biodiesel, and you can get entirely away from needing a second fuel tank for normal stuff since the mass of batteries can warm the tank....  unless the issue is filling your engine with cooking oil, then shutting it down to sludge up... ok, nevermind :P

There is already a company that makes an electric car powered by lithium ion batteries, the same as in your lap top.  It has a 100 mile range.
