Today I bought a Nvidia Geforce 7600 GS OC w/ 512mb vram.
Is that a good card to buy?
I paid $149.99 for it.

I'd say you made a good buy. I haven't really looked at video cards for awhile, But IIRC the 7600 was a pretty good card, and for 150 bucks, well you can't go wrong.

Thank you Stephen :)

I just fell in love w/ my new video card. :)

I just bought and installed this card myself and I must say really nice. I got tired of waiting for the X1600 pro to go back in stock so I bought this card instead. I noticed it flickers once when loading up Guild Wars but other than that I'm really pleased with it. It displays a lot more detail then my old ATI 9800 pro. I get some more Ram for this puppy and my old system will be ready for NWN 2.
I'd say we both bought a nice video card for the price. ;)

I know what you mean Javora. I have a X800 pro, which by all means is a good card, But I really want to play around with that Pixel Shader 3.0 that the newer cards have. DOes that Geforce card have shader support 3.0 for an (somewhat older ) AGB box? If so, I might go back to Nvidia for awhile , while I'm building a new box.

IIRC the nVidia 6600 and above and ATI X1000 and above all have Pixel Shader 3.0 support. To answer your question specifically, yes this card does handle Pixel Shader 3.0. Then again it also says on the box that this card is Microsoft Vista ready as well, however without HD DRM support I find that claim suspicious. People say you only need that if you plan on playing HD movies on Vista, but Vista isn't out yet and I don't exactly trust Microsoft.
You can read more about the card at the website: http://www.bfgtech.com/7600GS_512.html
