Post by: Sirgod on October 21, 2006, 04:49:14 pm
Decided today, to surprise the wife by starting up the old fireplace. Just wondering how many of our friends here, have started theres this year. I know postman was chopping wood like crazy a few weeks ago.

Not yet, we don't start the wood stove until mid November. Any sooner and it would drive us out of the house. I usually burn oil at the beginning and end of the season. As for my wood pile, I will try to post a pic tomorrow. I have about 80% of what I need done. The last little bit that I am doing now will be burned in early/mid March for maple sugar/syrup.

My mom the pyromaniac, likes to start a fire when it is very cold outside.

Right now it is just not cold enough.

I had my first glass of hot chocolate yesterday. But since my apartment don't have a fireplace I just turned on the heat from the thermostat.  :)

The pile is 40' long and will be 8' (4 rows) deep when finished. This is one seasons wood.

We have 3 fire places, and we are lucky if it gets cold enough to use them, for 3 or 4 days a year. :(

Now that is the way to do it Postman. Then again, your weather is alot harsher then we ours further south.

Heh, Ravock with all the bad weather that Florida's had over the years, I'm surprised theres any trees left to burn.  ;)

I'd think about putting a woodburner in, but with my luck the house would go up with it.
