Title: Knox or Bragg Class Frigate
Post by: Chrystoff on December 10, 2006, 01:12:28 pm
Most everyone on this board is aware of the Knox Class frigate. It is basically a scaled down version of the Miranda/Avenger class starship. The extended hull is shortened, and the torpedo and rollbar are removed, leaving just the rollbar phasers. I've attached 2 pics. In the "Ships of the Starfleet" publication, this vessel is called the Knox, and it has 2 hanger bays. In "Jackill's Starfleet Reference Manual," the vessel is called the Bragg, and it has just one landing bay.

I was wondering if someone might be able to take an existing Miranda/Reliant ship, remove the rollbar weapons pod except for the phasers, and shorten the extended hull, creating the Bragg/Knox frigate. I've tried, but I do not have the tools or skill to pull it off.

 ;D

IIRC, P81 made one but I cant find it...

Zambie Zan has a Miranda pack that might be of interest for a suitable substitute:

Also Mackie's site has a few Miranda STYLE kitbashes but I don't recall the sip names I'm thinking of.

Qapla!

Thanks KF. I have already checked out everything you've mentioned:

P81 did in fact have a Knox. I have it and I'm using it now. But, it has his old textures, not the newer, better known ones that we see on all the kitbashes. It'd be cool if GaFY could up date it (hint, hint).
Zambie Zan's Miranda Pack is exactly that: A Miranda and variants, with extended hulls that are too long for a Knox.
There is nothing currently available on Mackie's site that will fit the bill.

Note the differences between a Miranda and a Knox; A Knox is much smaller, making it frigate and not a light cruiser.

Another thing to note is the position of the Mega phasers and warp engines between Jackill's Knox and  Ships of the Starfleet

So you can build 2 Variants there  ;D

I gave that a try. It didn't work. I suppose i could be doing something wrong, but I have no idea what that could be.

P 81's Knox mesh was no different in size then a standard Miranda so I went to work on it, added GAFY? textures and here's a Quick WIP of the proposed model version, I still have to do the other version ............
