Rules will be much the same as they were for sg6... but a little on the lighter side. I'm all ears for ideas on alliances and map. Although a variation with a smaller map size from sg6 would do nicely. Everyone knows the shiplist that's played one of the last three SG servers.
-
Just give me a DF and I'm there ;D
-
A lovely little D6 will be all I'll need to wipe the opposition from the skies.
-
I look forward to playing again.
-
Weird
Thought the last SG server was number 8
Oh well- just remember to let me fix all the Lyran ship "errors" you guys have managed to include
before it starts this time :P
Did I fly Fed last time? Or something else..hmm

I see someone has been watching a Bond movie marathon with a little Star Wars thrown in.
My only question at this point, about when I we expect this server to kick-off? Beta-testing of missions? Anything.

We all need to support ED and his new missions pack. So I suggest teaming up with DH who has been trying to lead the charge in getting a PvP match going to flesh them out. If we manage to make the missions likeable, I think this dynaserver will be something special. Otherwise we can just go back to the same old missions we had on the last server...

Dizzy, so far we've had two separate instances of PvP combat. Q, myself, and Knightstorm flew and had a great time. Last night myself and Knightstorm had two goes at it. No bugs showed up on either occasion. The Evil Dave missions are sweet, and I think they'd be cool in any server campaign.
-
They have to be "likeable" and "thoroughly" tested.
-
And here I always thought the final servers were for the "thorough" testing...

So very true... I sort of count on having a reset two days in and getting a new ship ;D

I'm not sure what you mean by "likeable". So far, everyone who has played them has thoroughly enjoyed them. As for the extent of testing, I've been doing extensive single player testing, and some Multiplayer testing. The bugs we've turned up have been pretty minor. In PvP, there were no bugs at all, in the two tests we've done of it so far. The only real difference in PvP between an Evil Dave mission and the old missions is the size of the map and how long it takes to find the bad guy. Deep scanning is a must.
It might be worth getting with Die Hard, Q, Starfleet Command HQ, and a few others to get other views.

I haven't played this mission pack in a while, so my info may be out of date, but some of the missions wherein you are just battling the AI seemed kind of long. You have to hunt down the bad guys which can take some time or of course you can merely follow your AI ally as he always seems to know where to go. I am not sure they are totally appropriate for a major campaign, but they're certainly more varied and patrol-like. It's an innovation to be sure.
-
I like them, they seem to make a campaign a little more varied, and such, make it seem a little more real. I mean, doing simple patrols and engaging in one or two ships every mission is good and all, but it gets repetitive after a while. Throwing in a few Non-combat missions makes it a little more interesting. I'd like a couple missions, though, where its actually detrimental to go to Red Alert right from the get go. Might make for some "interesting decisions" especially if not everyone is set to Mortal enemies in the dip settings. While an encounter between a Rom and Gorn would almost instantly start off by exchanging plasma torpedoes, Rom vs Hydran, or Gorn vs Lyran might not shoot at each other as a reflex action, if both ships pass by at Condition Green, they might be more likely to simply keep on going, or even trade a few goods. An occasional non-aligned encounter would be a boon for a Feddie to go in at Condition Green.
-
I'd like an option in the comms panel to call in reinforcements at the 10 min mark in a patrol in case you're having trouble killing the AI in non PvP situations. Don't know if it's doable, but I'd like to see newbies or less tactically skilled players still be able to win missions so it's fun for them solo. Doing so would forfeit all their mission prestige tho.
Seperately, patrols, especially those near a front line can't be too long. Long and repeatitive = boring. We can't have that on a PvP server. I'll have to take a look at the missions closely myself, something I haven't done, but we need to test them and get them to work 1st. Then we can tweak them into being super fun.
