ALBANY, N.Y. — For millions of comic strip readers, the prehistoric era was a hoot: Cavemen played baseball, ants went to school, birds rode on the back of turtles and snakes made quips.
All of it was thanks to cartoonist Johnny Hart, who died Saturday at age 76 while working at his home in Endicott. “He had a stroke,” his wife, Bobby, said Sunday. “He died at his storyboard.”

I far preferred Wizard of Id, but yeah, this is a loss. Nevertheless, 76 was a long run and a lot of cartoons. I wonder what his last strip was going to look like, considering he died drawing it.

I think it would be perfectly in keeping for BC to simply post what he had drawn this Sunday, and just let the last frame be Peter finally deciding to sail across the ocean.
BC has always been one of my two favorite strips, right behind Garfield.
Great, clean humor, and a great message.
Goodbye, Mr. Hart, you will be sorely missed.
