I like the idea of the Long server as people can take a break from it if they want without it huting their team. We used to have 6 week servers back in the day but I think the day-to-day activities were not quite as intense.
AOTK2 was 30 days (20 game years, I for one liked the slow tech progression).

Bump. Please vote on this. Need more input.

Bump. So if we do the 30, it will be 1.5 days per year for a total of 20 game years. The start date will be sometime between 2263-2268.

Sounds good. I'm thinking that the longer server will allow people more time to play around their real life priorities. That's why I voted for the 30 days server.

I got an idea, make it 6 weeks long and start it in 2243 at 1 day per year ;)
or better yet 1 year per 2 or 3 days :)

Seriously, I want 80-90% of the server to take place before 2280.

Thats cool the other 10-20% taking place before 2260 right? ;)

Wanna be purely evil? Have a time machine on one of the mines and allow whoever controls it to determine if time progresses or stands still while they are in control each day. I could see myself allowing it to run to 2271 then looking at the Gorn and sticking my tongue out.

You know you could make the map exceptionally huge to simulate slower war travel ;D
And Yes I really am Evil enough to approve of this idea and the last one. :flame:
Luckily for some I don't think you are. :P

The longer you make it, the more people will lose their interest at some point, especially if one side gets the upper hand early. 30 days seems likely to end with one side having nothing more than co-op hex flipping to do for fun.

See my "Wild Geese" post for this . . .

30 days or longer time would help. As w/ SGO7, I spend less time on the server 70% of the time. Plus or minus a few percentage points.
Not all of us can spend being on the server 24/7 like some people can.
