Just found a concept sketch of ST-online game...
http://www.startrekonline.com/gallery/viewimage.php?STOSacagawea.jpg
According to its desinated size (24.8 m), I guess it might be a runabout or small craft. But if you change the windows, I think it might be a nice frigate or escort for late TNG era. ;)

The design in that image IS a Late TNG-era Runabout :P

You know, you're on to something. I could seriously see this ship as say an armored battle frigate, or armored troop carrier frigate.

Im diggin that, really like that ship. if their are no other takers i might give it a go :)

well, it's been a month, ever get anywhere on this Geks?
-
Finally another ship with the variable geometry warp nacelles.
And here I was thinking Voyager was a one-off experiment thingy.

Don't forget the folding nacelles on the Delta flyer.

How about the new Ent-F (or G)...

The ships are sleeker, more interesting versions of the vessels that we are used to seeing. The new version of the Enterprise (I suppose it must be NCC-1701-F or G) provides the same stark contrast to its predecessor as the Enterprise D did to the much-beloved ship from the Original Series. The neck of the ship (between the drive and saucer sections) has been elongated and curved, but the original feel remains intact with a deflector array (that piece on the bottom front of the ship) that looks surprisingly like the one from the Enterprise D and a large saucer section.

if some better views are available that looks to be an interesting ship.

Its not a friagate or runabout, but a CLIPPER!! You know like an Atco, Calmoan, etc. Doesn't anyone read any Federation recognision stuff??!!
The definition of a CLIPPER is a border patrol craft in Federation tactical manuals. In the Klingon tactical manuals they're defined as something used to align targeting scanners and test weapons on lduring ong, boring border patrols.
A CLIPPER is about the same size as a CORVETTE , such as the Defiant or a Renner Class, for example, but differs in role. CORVETTEs are used for internal patrols and escort duties, CLIPPERS are used solely to patrol and monitor border activities. Both are reasonably armed for their size.
Klingons use SKIFFS such as the J3 or G2 in a similar role.
On crossing the Federation border a hostile vessel or force would first run into the Clipper patrolling that sector. The Clipper's job is to alert Star Fleet Command of the intrusion and attempt to destroy, delay, repel or damage the intruder (s) until point defence vessels like an Akula Class or Agilis Class perimetre action ship can take over.
These will then attempt to destroy, delay, repel or damage the intruder(s) until larger perimeter action ships can join in the fray.
The object is to buy time for the admirals to decide and respond to the hostile action with the main fleets.
I hope that this clarifies how the Federation tactical scheme works. It's all in Ships of the Fleet Volume 3 anyhow.
I downloaded a Sacagawea Class last year but it was a TMP period command cruiser someone had modelled from a book.
Andy.

At 24.8 meters it sounds more like a day sailer than a clipper. For comparison it's about the same size as an F-111 fighter-bomber (crew of 2) at 22.4 meters.
I've never read the book that you're referencing. So, I'm not disagreeing with you. I'm just wondering if you noticed the stated size of it? Seems too small for the role that you're giving it.

I saw it on a site about a month or so ago.
I quite like clippers, reminisant of the WW2 MTB and PT boats. Small but determined little things.
There in there somewhere between PFs and Corvettes size wise.
Jackill's books mentions clippers in fleet OBs but doesn't actually show any.
Battle Clinic has the Calmoan and Atco downloadable.
