Okay, who here has seen Torchwood? I finally got some disks and have watched about half the first season so far. Despite all the girl/girl kissing, I found I actually liked the show. A more grown up Dr. Who...
Oh and Jack/Ianto RULE!!!!!
-
Can't say I've ever heard of Torchwood.
-
Spin-off of Doctor Who.
And if you tire of the girl/girl judge, just wait... you'll get your share of the pie too.
-
I suppose I should watch more TV.
-
I think the show is awful and amateurish. The producers were like "Hey, this show has flat characters and dull stories. What can we do to make the show better?"
Answer: An SUV with glowy neon and gadgets, and every opportunity to use that pseudo-dramatic techno music they play on the show, and yes, girl on girl kissing.
I saw the first five shows. It bit. If you want weird stories with sexual tension, watch the X Files.

Captain Jack: You still got that stopwatch?
Ianto: Yup. There's a lot you can do in ten minutes.
Captain Jack: I'm meet you...
Ianto: I'll be there...
Oh, and every time Captain Jack gets his lips on Ianto...yummy!
-
That's just Jack and Ianto... wait till you see Jack and Jack.
-
Oh, dear, Judge. If you want good, cerebral science fiction with mind-boggling concepts, just watch the classic series Doctor Who.
-
I do watch the Doctor. I want to see Jack and the David Tennant Doctor liplock a few times!!! Oh yeah, baby!
Then again, Jack and Jack was hot too.
-
Toldja! :p
-
Just finished watching Season 1. Not as good as Doctor Who, but pretty entertaining for a "Gay" X-Files.
-
lol, nicely put...

I had the 1st season loaned to me. I actually enjoyed it. I'm not a Dr. Who fan myself but this wasn't too bad.
When I get back to the states and if I can get BBC America, I'll look it up.
Compared to alot of the trash being pumped out on the networks, I'm glad to see something like this.

Torchwood was created because Russell T. Davies is a Doctor Who fan who doesn't actually like Doctor Who.

Hehe,
I've been watching Season 2 and actualy enjoyed it far more than Season 1 so far. James Marsters (Spike from Buffy) is the perfect foil for John Barrowman's Captain Jack. Even better was the introduction of Martha Jones into the mix. I liked her a lot on Who, and she does even better here in Torchwood where she's a strong character in her own right.
What is also nice is that the characters have toned down the raunchiness factor and matured towards relationship-seeking instead of just hopping into each other's beds. I really like the direction and involvement of the Gwen/Rhys relationship, the developing Owen/Tashiko relationship (and does it now qualify as necrophilia???), and of course the Jack/Ianto relationship is coming along nicely. I concur with Jack, I want to see Ianto in one of those red Unit berets for a bit of fun....

As far as I can tell, U.N.I.T. is sort of persona non grata in the new Doctor Who. The BBC got a warning from the United Nations to not feature U.N.I.T. and definitely to no longer mention U.N.I.T.'s connection to the U.N.. So you may have to wait a good long while before you see a U.N.I.T. beret on someone in Torchwood.

I wonder why? I guess show the UN behaving in a competent way was too much fiction for them . . .

I'm not really into Torchwood.. Only seen 1 episode, shut it off half way through..
The new series of Dr. Who is entertaining, but it lacks character building and storyline.
That is why I have gotten the entire series of Dr. Who with Tom Baker.. 41 story lines.. (231 episodes)... starting with episode 75 City of Death to 116 Logopolis.. this is the Best of Dr. Who..

Oh wow. This last week's episode was one of the best of sci-fi, ever, period.

Anymore Info on the Sarah Jane thingie? One of my friends says she plays a minor role in Dr. Who's first episode, and that eventually we might even get to see Rose Tyler again in season four.
That being said, Catherine Tate cracks me up. If you all get BBC America every now and then her earlier shows are on after Coupling.

Sj chronicles is a chidrens show that runs on BBC1 during the after school evening time slot.
I've watched snippets of it, and it's essentially of the same tone as D'who, but it has a bunch of kids/young teenagers in it too.
I wouldn't really say it's all that appealing to adults.... but that's my view.
Torchwood had a good ending in the UK this year, and I can't help but be curious to what new cast additions they make next year.

Those are some good episodes but how can you ignore the Hinchcliff era? It was so wonderfully Gothic and dark. Heck, Tom Baker's first season had some all-time classics in it: The Ark in Space, The Genesis of the Daleks, and Revenge of the Cybermen.
Here. Indulge yourself in some lovely pre-City of Death Tom Baker. I'm sure we all rememer The Invasion of Time. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=99Gvxdri9D4

The season finale had me in tears...and god I have to wonder what it would be like if they showed videos of the show's casting couch!
