Title: Sirius-class Medium-range Exploration Cruiser WIP
Post by: ModelsPlease on July 10, 2007, 02:30:45 pm
I found an obscure FASA discription of this Class so I thought I'd give it a go. This will be my last one for a while as R/L is in full effect again. Still needs texture work and regs but here's a sneak peak...........

OUTALANCE SHIPYARDS
U.S.S. Sirius NCC 1400
Sirius-class Medium-range Exploration Cruiser

The Sirius class was a four-nacelled design from the 2220s which remained in service until the 2280s when the newer Constellation-class replaced them.
Sirius class starships were used for medium-range exploration missions and border patrols.
When Starfleet began its refit program for the Constitution, Akula and Triton classes, it was decided that it was simpler to replace the Sirius class with a similar design of brand new vessels due to the complexities of the four nacelle design.
The Sirius-class provided data used on several later designs of four nacelle ships including the Constellation, Cheyenne and Prometheus classes.

Not bad.  She could use a more detailed impulse drive section, but not bad.  One suggestion I would make.  Swap the placement of the warp engines so that the aft thruster ports are facing in the other direction.  Basically, taking the warp engines on the bottom and putting them on the top, and vice versa.

That's pretty decent, MP. She's quite cute! I do agree with Centaurus about the nacelles, though.

Just one other thing: She's a TMP refitted ship, and you said:

That being the case, shouldn't she have a TOS bridge and nacelles?

Looks nice.

I'd like to see the 2220 version myself. Wonder if it'd be a Connie bash with Daedalus parts?

What phaser points?
(http://www.dynaverse.net/forum/Themes/Taldren/images/warnwarn.gif) Your choice of verbiage has done to the TOS,  what Adoniss choice of pixel resolution does to OP IG performance.

Um..rotfl..phaser titties damnit! She needs some titties! ;D Seriously, MP knows what I mean, but for anyone that doesn't, I'm refering to making them actualy stick out of the ship an be easily visable as they are on some shots of the Ent-a.

To some others in this threads, I agree about the TOS, But I'd like to see the nacelles that had the spears on the front.

I like this idea, that I do.

Done! see first post  :)

They will be there, I threw this together in less then an hour just to see if the design itself was ok for everyone and get feedback.

I'm not done yet  :P

If I have the time I will do a TOS version.

Great feedbacks thanks folks  ;D

Ahhh, much better.  The engine placement and alignment make the ship look more practical and viable.  :-D  What other changes/addition you have planned for this ship?

New impulse drive, phaser turrets and hangerbay, maybe new pylons. And a TOS version using SF's warp request  ;) I'll get some WIP's up shortly

Its a Mini-Constellation.
I like both versions, but here's what I would do: using the new parts align the nacelles horizontally, so that the ship is wider than it is tall.

I agree, the pylons on the other ship looked way better than a constelation setup (not that the 2nd version isn't good too) but NEVER throw out a good ship...

Well, the original had them, they were very faint, if you didn't notice them then that was my entire point of asking for better ones...Unless you were just too busy staring at those Orion girls of yours..

Sorry I scapped it for now. Looks too much like another ship I'm working on so I'm going to re-address this design at a later date. However I will be releasing the "OTHER" design shortly and you'll see what I mean about looks  ;)
