Title: pc problem

i got a old pentium 3 around 500 Mhz.

its a graphic problem, the computer must boot in safe mod, i only have 16 colors and 640 480 display, i reboot so normal mode and when i want to put the setting to 256 colors or higher or the display to 800 600 or higher, the system freeze during the reboot, the error message is the following: there is a problem with your display setting. the adapter type is incorrect, or the current setting do not work with your hardware.

so any idea on how to fix it?

Well in order to help you with your problem, we'd have to know a bit more about the system. What sort of display adapter is it? Do you have the drivers correctly installed?

well its not always doing that, the video card is a tnt/tnt pro i think, the old com have not access to the net.

anyway its working now but later i will replace it with another one.

well

m not going to put money on a old pentium 3, its just a backup computer and i wanted a com wit win 98 so i can play sfc1, but sfc crash when i want to play after i change the mods.

TNT is 8 years old.

Funny how in 8 years we've gone from triangles and Unreal to pixel shaders, anti-aliasing, and Bioshock.

Since it seems your graphics driver might be bad do you have the install disk? otherwise I'm sure Nvidia has legacy drivers on its website.

I still remember the Nvidia / 3dfx battle. It's incredible how fast 3dfx (and really everyone except Ati which only survived due to its enormous market share of integrated graphics) died after the TNT2 put the first nail in the coffin and GeForce 1 the final nail.

i don't need to driver, the com is old and not working fine, now the graphic are ok, but if i turn it off for a time it see to find a problem.

i can't read audio or video because it seem to skip part of it, in games like sfc no audio problem but the game is a bit slow to react.

untill it die i will continue to use it with some old games.

Unless you install new Graphics card and extra RAM (if you can get it) your computer with Win98 will always have problems
