Hi all,
I am looking for a graphics editor that will let me combine 2 pictures into 1 picture. I did a google search on "graphics editor" and found a shareware one called Photo Pos Pro (http://www.bestshareware.net/download/photo-pos-pro.htm) .
***************************************************************************
It states:
Layers - One of the important properties of the software is the ability to create pictures with numerous layers
***************************************************************************
Does "Layers" mean combining 2 or more pictures to form 1 picture or is there another term for it (such as overlay, merge, mix, etc) ? The file is 26.6 Megabytes and I am on 56K dail-up connection, which would take a long time to download this file. However, this holiday I may have access to a high speed connection PC with a CD burner.

Yes layers will allow you to combine 2 (or more) pics by laying them over each other with varying transparency.
"The Gimp" is a very popular free photo editing program. http://www.gimp.org/

Rod,
Thanks for answering my question about "Layers". Unfortunately, for me I am still using Win 98 SE and gimp graphics editor is for Win 2000 and above.

If you are desparate, you can do layers using Milkshape. That is how I make most of my textures now.

You can download gimp 2.2 and gtk+ 2.6, which will work for win98.

Note: Install gtk+ first, then install gimp.

I'm a bit of a fan of the poor man's photoshop... paint shop pro - I find it easier to use than photoshop and sufficient for most of my needs.
If you don't want to spend ages trying to download, most PC magazines have freeware and shareware on the CDs/DVDs that they come with - could be faster than trying to download, just a thought.

Interstellar Machine, You-Cheng Hsieh, and Smiley,
Thanks for all the helpful info. I will check out the old version of gimp and maybe Milkshape too.

asylum,
Thanks for the photoshop tip. Yes cash is an issue. I am going to try to download gimp now on dial-up. If it takes too long I will try tomorrow at my brother's home as he has a high speed connection and a CD burner on his PC.
