This is an unified patcher for the first starfleet command game which was published by Interplay in 1999. I installed all my games at D: but only to find that Pestalence's SFC1 patch can only work if you install SFC1 to default path. So I made a new unified patcher to patch all versions of SFC1 installed anywhere. You need to have SFC1 installed first, and run the game at least once to check which version of SFC1 it is.
Features:
- detect your Starfleet Command path automatically.
- can patch 1.0, 1.01 and 1.021 versions of SFC.
- can patch your SFC1 no matter where you installed it.
- post patch spec fixes included.
- winxp cd fix included.
- elite missions for gorn and hydran included.
- special missions for fed, klingon, romulan included.
- remove patch files automatically after patching completed.
- Gamespy registry fix included.
Requirements:
- Star Trek: Starfleet Command, installed from your CD.
- At least run the game once to make sure which SFC1 version you have.
(the version number is at the right-bottom corner of the race select screen.)
Instructions:
- install SFC1 to harddrive.
- double click to run the patcher.
- If the patcher can not detect where your SFC1 is installed, browse to it manually.
- Choose your SFC1 version, it may be 1.0, 1.01, or 1.021.
- The patcher will extract patch files and update your SFC1, wait a few minutes for it to finish.
- After patching finished, you should be able to play updated SFC1 v1.03.

hey.... is there a simple/easy to use/quick install patch that enables play on XP? I know people have posted instructions, but I was hoping for something idiot-proof....

What's the problem?
Just install SFC1, download the patcher and run it. Everything should work fine. :)
Make sure you selected the correct version.

So this is a patch to enable SFC 1 to run on Windows Xrta Problems then??
A friend has managed to run SFC 1 on XP with no bother at all since two years ago, so I wonder why other people seem to have a problem. It is one of the few software packages that he doesn't have problem with on XP!!
As for SFC 1 on Vista, works fine even with the V 1.03 patch installed.
All the LAN computers used for SFC 1 battles here run Windows 98 or VIsta, just to be on the safe side. ;D

You are trying to run single player with the disk in the drive(like SFC3) ????

Actually this is a recompile of my patches into an all in one installer.. the NO CD fix is included in my installers, it is not only for XP but all windows versions.
Credit should be given and a readme file should be published with this...
Anyhow, I had this planned over a year ago, but circumstances took me offline..
Koodos to You-Cheng Hsieh for compiling this.
I'm going to try this out, but I may do one up on it to include a self version checker to eliminate user error. Also I might have more SFC 1 material to include with the Bonus material.. just need to find my archives.
Anyhow, so far this looks great..
only thing forgot to mention is that you have to put the game into Compatibility Mode for Win 98 for online play at Gamespy Arcade, but you have to turn off compatibility mode for Single Player mode (Causes lagging).. Anyhow.. I'll post back in a week or so to update on progress and see if I can revise the game some to eliminate the lagging issue.

Yes.... although from the sounds of it I won't need to. I'm on a stupid schedule at work (someone's gotta work while all the suits are off for Christmas), but on Friday I'll have time to have a crack at it. I'll let you know... and thanks in advance....
