I need some help. No, I'm already getting plenty enough of that sort of help, thank you... what I need is some advise on what would be the best scene to use from any of my Monty Python/Tolkien work to do at a comedy club.
I have been asked to coordinate a comedy troupe acting out one of my scenes and have even been given the honor of picking which one I would like them to do. However, I honestly don't have a clue which one would work best. I am told it needs to be something that can be done with minimum props and set work (lacking Ents, my personal favorite scene of Saruman singing "I'm a lumberjack" is probably right out) by no more than 5 performers.
Oh yeah, and it should be funny. ::)
Any help with my conundrum is GREATLY appreciated!!!

Ooh, a great excuse to reread the LotR parody. I'll get back to you in a day or two.
Kadh, who would read it again with a fairly lame excuse, but what the hey

Thanks Kadh!!! Any suggestions yet?

Well, I didn't mean to leave you hanging on this one. I'm rereading the series now. Is there an absolute date that you must have an answer by?

My vote would be anything where K-Fo makes an appearance. ;D

Honestly, the sooner the better. The performance is on Friday Feb. 8th. Yikes!

Hehe... well, I made a bet with my wife that at least one person would say that. :D

Any scene I'd suggest would require too many people...
I am therefor usless.
My apologies. Off to slay myself for failing you now!

Well, the good news is that I got this postponed until May.

That is the problem I am running into as well... my favorite scenes would either involve to many people or extravagant props. For instance, my wife keeps telling me to use the flying sheep scene... sheesh!
I am therefor usless. My apologies. Off to slay myself for failing you now!
LOL, no worries... permission to slay yourself is summarily denied. Hmmm... things aren't looking to good for your character in the parody, however. :D

Well, I'm stumped on this. All I can offer is that you use a scene that would be easily recognized for what it is, a LotR/MP hybrid.
Of course, anything with Gollum might be good...

Just don't have it be a boring show...

Remind the actors, its a comedy...

Hopefully the audience is all smiles...

If not, bail!

*IF* you can't find anything else, I'd recommend RotK intro, scene 1 and scene 2. The cast required to play them out is smaller (Narrator could also be Tolkien), and has a few things in the "Go for it" column: Easy to recognize songs/scenes, teaser so they'll want more, audience participation, easily recognized characters, and its funny.
I don't think I could ever classify any one scene as "funniest". Its a major work, and everything is funny. Which, of course, brings me to say that perhaps you should seek some funding and permissions from the right sources and just produce the movie(s) yourself. Or play. It would definitely fit nicely on everyone's movie shelf between LotR and MP, a swell movie shelf transitional piece between Holy Grail and Fellowship.
Czar "A bit of humor offered to the One Man who has made us all laugh" Mohab.
P.S. I've only ever seen one movie on opening weekend. I just hate the crowds. I'd see these at least once a day, each day, of opening weekend. Of course, I'd have to get some advanced tickets *wink wink*.

Haha!!! Thanks for the smiles Czar!

That would, indeed, be most excellent! I just wish I had a clue as to how to go about doing it...

Free tickets to anyone that has ever posted a comment in these parodies on the Dynaverse board is a given! 8)

Surely with the writers strike you could get some interest behind these... Anyone got New Line's #?
