Howdy all, I just got a 32" widescreen HDMI and Im wondering if there is any tweaks for running OP on widescreens? I've tried changing resolution with ezini to 1600x900 i think it is, but the game just goes to a blank screen then back to desktop... Game will only run on 1280x1024 and the ships looks enlongated and out of proporiton. Any suggestions? thanks all...

Hi BB, (you Rommie bastage! :P ;)),
I'm pretty sure games need to be written in a wide format to show correctly and OP was well before that option. I have a 32" LCD HD TV and I have to leave it in full screen mode to have older games look right. I think OP only supports up to 1280 x 1024 resolution so try that as your highest level and go from there.

:D Thanks alot will give it a go...

Run the game in Windowed mode! That gives you room to run TS on the side. I run 1600x1200 in Windowed mode on my 1920x1200 desktop (24" Gateway, got it cheap when Compusa when out of business) with TS running along the side.

Is there a trick to windowed mode? Every time I've tried it over the years I just get a black window that doesn't do much except chew up cpu

You MUST set your display adapter to 16-bit color.

heh...I did the same thing...got a Samsung 24" widescreen, 3K:1. Amazing the clarity in games... ;D
Cranking the resolution to max in sfc does make things look a little stretched, but not too bad. I used to it already.
I've never tried windowed mode...how do you set that anyway?

I've done the 16 bit part but haven't found the right thing to modify. What specific folder and sub folder and line gets modified, thanks.

It's file sfc.ini in your main OP directory, e.g.
C:\Program Files\Taldren Software Inc\Starfleet Command Orion Pirates
About a dozen lines from the start of the file (in the [3D] section)
change the line "windowed=0" to "windowed=1"

I'll try that again then. Thanks. I had done that before and then changed display to 16 but got no results. I thought maybe I was in the wrong folder.
