Post by: Don Karnage on February 16, 2008, 03:32:30 pm
i was looking at the phoenix experimental shipyards and found some interesting model and they're for the KA game, so i need someone to convert them in .mod format.

Kt'Hyla has stated when I have asked that he doesn't mind his ships being converted to SFC: OP.

There are lots of good KA mods there and there are some good ST: Armada 2 mods that use Klingon Academy and SFC ships that would also be good if they could get into SFC:OP.

Check out SquireJames' Tholian web effect for ST: Armada 2:

Some of these models I *think* can be converted from *.sod to *.mod format using SFC3 CV model tool. Then they'd need to be lit, scaled and hardpointed.

More info. can be found here: http://mods.moddb.com/8071/klingon-academy-ii-the-general-war

Hello KF this Tholian Dreadnought Squierjames uses is my SFC rework model, so you don't need to reconvert its available at Battleclinic and this Tholianweb effect is ugly looking, there have been better KA conversions for this in A2

Always good to read something by you Terradhyne! ;)

I was merely pointing out that the Tholian web effect has made it into another Trek Game besides Klingon Academy. I wasn't aware of any better version out there...

So, when will we get the V-20, D-10 and Suvi' from you? LOL

Best wishes,

KF

I've been meaning to port some kthyla stuff with deep exploration but Haven't figured out exactly how to do it. I know I can do it because it works with mackies lwo files, I just gotta figure out exactly how to put stuff together. I dunno when I'll have time but if I manage it there will be a couple roms I'll put out...

thats easy to do but needs some time:

first step: throw the lws and lwo files of the high folder of the model into the models textures folder

2nd step: change the Deep Exploration lws import settings and mark the option "Break apart object by surface name" and than load the models def.lws with Deep Exploration

3rd step: delete all parts with a BROKEN in the name

4th step: export to 3ds or something else but with the option "visible objects only", into a new folder as it exports the texture there to

5th step: make the lightmaps for the textures and convert your exported model to SFC or anything else file-format

hope this helps  :)
