Not sure if anyone here is aware of this place or the OS, but I came across it while reading up on some incompleted Windows builds.
From the screenshots and what I've read so far, there's a good chance that when this thing reaches version 1.0, it'll be able to do just about anything Windows XP can do.

I've heard of it but have not tried it out yet. From what I gather it still has quite a way to go.
-
I read about this one quite some time ago, it doesn't seem to have progressed much.
-
I tried to install it on a smaller capacity hard drive, and the install process is very similar to most Windows install processes. However, after the install is completed, and it boots into the OS, it asks the same info that most Windows does, to ask basic info to finish setting up the OS. However, my mouse and keyboard failed to function at that point, so I couldn't get anywhere.
I'm gonna be keep an eye on this project. Significant progress or not, I think this OS has potential and hope work continues.

I know this is linux but..

Looks good, and promising as well. Can't seem to download the damn thing though, even for the 30 day trial.

You can download from one of the mirrors

Linux + Trial = Undefined.
Does not compute...
edit: and whoah what a dreadful website, a 411KB image on the front page - half of the image is text... sheesh. Compare that to slackware's site below, that is how a website should work - provide text info, fast. Sorry, couldn't resist the urge to bitch about that.
Try this one out:
http://linux.softpedia.com/progDownload/SLAX-KillBill-Edition-Download-1957.html
It's a live CD
It used to be on the SLAX (http://www.slax.org/) site, but it looks lilke things are in transition there since v6. Hopefully there will be a SLAX 6 based Kill Bill edition eventually.
I like SLAX as it is based on my favourite distribution: http://www.slackware.com/ (generally not for *nix noobs, but SLAX is a snap)

It just looks like some Linux distro running GNOME desktop with a Vista-themed windows decoration and perhaps some kind of virtual machine for running other OSes.

well, may look like that, but if it lives up to it's claim, it will use winxp drivers for hardware, and if it doesn't have to translate from windows to linux it should run alittle faster and alittle more stable then linux cloning windows. Also from their docs, many of the programmers of this OS also work on wine for linux so you should see some crossover.

If you look at the packages in this distro, you will see that it is using GNOME, compiz, xorg, etc, etc, and udev which handles devices of all sorts. Whatever hardware drivers they may claim to be using or will use, nearly everything I see is linux from my minor understanding of what linux in fact is. Not to mention that the file system is ext3. This is linux. It's using the linux kernel. What else need be said?

I will default to the masses here, I haven't looked into it more then what the sight was saying they were working on making. I have downloaded the files, but haven't opened them up as of yet (working on programming something else :-\ that is not working out greatly yet)

Pssst... take a look at these for a model of editing binary files from a console app:
ftp://www.dynaverse.net/sfc2_op/Tools_and_Utilities/EDDBEDIT.zip (NW's OP db editor - outdated - ask him for link to new sources)
ftp://www.dynaverse.net/sfc2_eaw/utilities/eawparser/DBParserCode.zip (CW/sfc2.net's EAW db parser source).
edit: I've attached some newer sources for EDDBEDIT, but these are still not the latest (but will give you the idea anyway)

you know what bites, back in the day when I was training to be a programmer. I had wrote a binary edit program. Of course that source is long since gone, was written under Unix(university mainframe) ported to Amiga. Heck, even did mainframe and microsoft assembler code. Now doing a printf comand takes some thought. ::)

That's nothing. I have to do an entire Druid ritual to get a printer to install correctly, and if that doesn't work, I do a fan dance in the old burlesque fashion.
;D

WHy aren't you posting in the H&S forum anymore?

I'm going to have to consult Frey on just what forum rules that violates. It must violate SOMETHING. I'm going to have to dig out a DVD with some attractive woman doing a fan dance (maybe Big Town with Diane Lane) to erase that image from my mind with a much more attractive one.

Good luck with that. It's never worked for anyone else before in the past. But, may I recommend Candy Barr. She was an incredibly goregous woman back in the days of stag films and burlesque shows. If anyone can help reset your mind, it's her.

Hey Nem, here's some more help to help settle your tortured mind.

It works for me. But then again I've always had a weakness for Diane Lane.
Candy Barr I don't recall ever seeing.

One of the advantages of not being up on "pop culture", I've never seen the macarena and its hard to imagine you doing a dance I've never seen.

Trust me, Diane Lane has nothing up on Candy Barr.
And as for the Macarena, forget about that.
*smacks Nem with a rubber chicken, and has him materialize in a tailor made suit sitting alone at a stage, and then comes out from the curtains and re-enacts the scene from Striptease in where Demi Moore makes her stripping debut, and sees Nem try to leave and laughs evily cause Nem is attached to the chair, which is attached to the floor*

I downloaded a Youtube video of Candy Barr and still prefer Diane Lane. To each his own.

Fortunately due to my nephews life long fascination with chickens I have become immune to all forms of chicken attacks and this failed to work on me. You must have hit Punisher with the ricochet instead.

Na, just with some people they don't feel the effects of my rubber chickens for a while. It depends on how fast I smack them.
